There's a few major things that EVE Online has been known for over the years. It's a complex game. There's a lot of material for making spreadsheets (if that's your thing). But one of the most agreed upon points is that it's trailers are always seen as some of the best in the industry. As an EVE player, I tend to agree that the trailers are awesome but the cynic in me also wants to say that they are not always based in reality. Take the Eve Retribution trailer from 2 years ago. It shows a guy who "made the mistake of his life" in killing "the wrong people". While this can happen, it never really happens like this. Its a fun trailer and incredibly campy but maybe not the most faithful to the game.

The 2014 Trailer is completely different in that all of these events can, and did, happen in EVE. Months ago, CCP asked for excerpts from people's recorded voice communications while they were playing the game with their friends. What makes this such an outstanding trailer is that it captures all of the feelings that make eve different from almost every other MMO. Its a game that transforms into something greater than the sum of its parts when you play with the right people and this trailer does more to explain why I keep playing more than anything else I could put into words.

What do you guys think?

@eurobum: It seems like at some point EVE greatly wronged you in the past I'm not really sure what your history is because you really don't justify the way you feel in any of your posts. Why is everything you say so aggressively worded? Whats your EVE story that makes you so against anybody enjoying the game and telling others its a game they might enjoy as well.

Awesome! Let me know when you're ready to join the nul sec shenanigans! If you have any questions be sure to ask in giantboming. We've memorized too much about the game so you don't have to.

@giantstalker: I would totally disagree on plex being the main incentive to play the game. If you come into eve looking at it from a standpoint of "im going to play this game so much that I'll make it free" it will become soul crushing and you'll bounce right off it. Play to Pay to Play is soul crushing and involves grinding no matter what way you cut it.

@deathtrap: Eh, if you ever need help or people to hang out with kite co is pretty good for that. If you're worried about getting back into the game drop me a line.

Just an update for anybody who might be rolling through this thread and wondering what is going on in Kite Co. You might wonder what we are up to but I have good news. We are alive and well and still spacing it up. As you may or may not have seen, we recent acheived an awesome long term goal of ours. Check out This Thread for more info. We anchored our own station that we live out of. Its something that very few people get to do in this game and we pooled our resources and built something that can never be destroyed (under current game mechanics). Its a home of our own and we're focused on making it a good place to be for new players. We are still part of the brave collective which is a very newbie-centric corp that helps provide content for all time zones and all styles of player. We've still got our new duder programs to help the newest of new players get the stuff they need to jump start having fun in game and we also have a freebie ship handout program so that no matter what skill level you are you can always participate. We'd love to have you as part of the "Space Guild!"

New Duder here, I just applied. It's been years since I played so I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions. My younger brother was playing my account for a long time so I'm actually well equipped. My in-game name is Seamus Finnigan.

P.S. I LOVE what you guys did for Ryan Davis and that got me motivated to play again! Good work!

Ill just repeat what i said in the bomb thread. I'm super excited for new blood! I started really digging into giant bomb about the time patrick showed up and I've really enjoyed the content he brought. As long as you guys bring your own perspective on things and aren't afraid to be yourself (even if that is "bad at videogames" or hating yoshi with a white hot passion) everything is going to turn out fine. Take the criticism with a grain of salt because there's a far greater nonvocal majority who likes ya just fine. Congratulations and good luck!

@giantstalker: You should wander around in the bad side of space more. Getting jumped is pretty common. So much nulsec feels like a dark alley. You might be fine but someone will probably try to shank you.

@i_stay_puft: You're welcome! It was pretty exhilarating. It feels way more meaningful when there's something actually on the line.
