As someone who has played the game I am pretty much 100% on Dan's side for this one. The presentation is top notch and the story is pretty good. I think the story goes on a little too long and the over abundance of fake out deaths kills all tension. The combat is fun for the first few hours but constantly getting locked in animations is frustrating and it happens so often that the heat stuff quickly loses its luster. Side content is well written but the actual activities are tedious and generally just a means to an end. To end on a positive note that chicken joke is absolute gold.
SOMA is my personal game of year. I was worried it wouldn't even get consideration let alone win a category in these podcasts due to not much talk about it during the year. It was a game that surprised me and left me contemplating a lot of concepts I thought were already well worn. If you haven't played it give it a chance. That's all I ask.
