One thing to keep in mind here: the Japanese voice actor for Snake was NOT replaced. All this talk about changing directions and whatever else is a steaming load. Japanese Snake in MGS5 will sound the same as he has in MGS1, 2, 3 and 4. This is perhaps what upsets me the most, the misdirection and deceiving from Kojima and Konami. Something fishy is going on.
It hurts me inside that Hayter isn't Snake. I have a connection with the Metal Gear series that no other game shares. It's irrational, unconditional love, and this feels a bit like a break up. Ultimately it doesn't matter, because if it has Metal Gear on the box, I must have it, and I must dominate it.
Last time Kojima flipped us fans the bird and did what he wanted, we got Raiden in MGS2. Excellent, incredible game with an absolutely god awful main character. I'm really hoping this isn't a repeat, but it sounds like Keifer understands how significant the role is.
@tomba_be: I'd have to see some numbers before I'd say the "vast majority" were not mainstream. This event was broadcast on television, remember. Regardless of the wide reach of the internet and the devotion of us enthusiasts, streaming content still has a looong way to go to catch up to TV in terms of viewership.
@theunsavedhero: I was much the same way. Could grow a beard since about 14-15, damn near impossible NOT to grow one now. Really sucks since I work in the food service industry right now and have to keep clean shaven, which is a daily chore. In my younger years I had a beard halfway down my chest.
All you guys complaining about not being able to grow a beard underestimate the amount of goddamn work that comes with facial hair. It's a major pain in the ass.
so my question is still, why the hell is this not on PS3 and/or 360? I mean more people own a PS3 and 360 than a Wii U those are also more adult themed consoles so it would probably sell better. Didn't Dragon's Dogma sell well? That is pretty much MH. Im surprised there hasn't been a PSN release of at least one of the games its really sad since they are really fun.
It seems to be for entirely political reasons. Monster Hunter is a massive system seller in Japan. Nintendo would have parked a dumptruck full of money outside Capcom's office to secure this game for their platform.
