New Games That I Played In 2013 In No Particular Order.

List items

  • Played the game after it was heavily discounted and after it had a huge patch to improve the visuals. Played it and its DLC co-op and i have to say I enjoyed quite a bit. It's not a great game by any means but it's fun as hell walking around with a sonar telling your mate if theres any sign of xenos. I honestly enjoyed this as a co-op game more than Dead Space 3.

  • CURRENTLY 2/3 COMPLETED: So far this game has been a blast. The graphical fidelity is absolutely incredible. Gameplay wise its a nice balance between Crysis 1's open levels and Crysis 2's more liniar and compact level design. It's also nice to see characters from the first game come back as 2's cast was very weak imo. Stealth was quite fun in Crysis 1 but the bow in this game makes it an absolute blast.

  • Very fun combat and challenging bosses marred by a few issues. The camera at times is straight up awful and will get you killed, especially on some of the bosses. A lot of people loved the music but I found the JROCK extremely cringe-worthy at times. Other than that it's an extremely fun game very loosely based on the metal gear universe.

  • Very solid game. Lara's personal story was far more interesting than the actual plot on the island but it served as a decent structure for some mayhem. The stealth in this game was really fun and im surprised more people didn't mention it in reviews and such. Overall a fantastic foundation for a new series of TR games.

  • ONLY FINISHED LEON CAMPAIGN. Another co-op game that I enjoyed besides the awkward controls and doing quick-time events online (that sometimes you fail cos internet) it was a fun Resident Evil-ish experience.

  • Played about 20 hours or so. Really fun and satisfying combat. Mixes several game ideas together to make this crazy RPG. My only wish is that it was on PC as the PS3 version (and also 360) has some performance issues.

  • Laser guns, rockin' 80s soundtrack, Sega Mega Drive cutscenes, the dude from Aliens and penis jokes. Dumb fun 5 hours and I hope they make another one!

  • Very few games, let alone AAA games are able to marry the narrative and game play together as well as The Last of Us. The game forces you to be a thorough scavenger and improve your combat abilities, like the characters you play as, otherwise you will struggle. The curve ball they throw at you 2/3rds of the way through the game is very clever way to story telling affecting the game play significantly and really makes you feel immersed. Outstanding achievement!

  • Played this one co-op with a friend. It's not scary whatsoever, it's not difficult whatsoever and the story is kinda shit for the most part.

  • What a great game. Beautiful graphics, fantastic characters, combat was really fun with an engaging story. My main complaint is that its main focus, the story, completely falls apart at the end. The Ken Levine Twistâ„¢ was, as usual, really fantastic to play through and see it happen in front of your eyes but once the credits had finished you realise that the plot and characters for the end portion of the game was really poorly written. It's not Mass Effect 3 bad but it was still a cop-out ending in my eyes.

  • In many ways its the best Arkham game which surprised me. The story and boss fights were absolutely fantastic. My main problem with the game is in the previous games hunting for collectibles was extreme fun and added a good 10 hours to the playtime. Origins however just isn't that fun in that aspect.

  • Im about 25 hours in and havn't played it since. This is my typical experience with JRPGs, even ones i really like like Ni No Kuni. It feels like im playing a wonderful childrens movie. The art style and music is really heads and shoulders above most games, amazing.

  • Not a lot to say. It took everything I didnt like about GTA4 and everything I loved about GTA4 and improved on it tenfold. Not many AAA games lived up to the hype this year, GTA5 seems to be an exception. Very fun!

  • This game is 3 hours(ish) long. Before the last 15 minutes of the game I thought it was a good indie game with an outstanding art style, well written and beautifully music with an interesting core mechanic. But those last 15 mins pulls all these elements together in a way I didn't see coming and I am so glad Brad recommended it.

  • Like Brothers this game lives and dies on if you are engaged in the story. Having heard many recommendations for this game and being told not to spoil anything about it I went into it blind, and I am so glad that I did. The entire premise of the game requires you to snoop around you're family's new house piecing together their story through items/letters/diaries etc. The attention to detail in all the objects and the house is absolutely incredible and it is extremely satisfying and fun way to tell a story.

  • PC Version: An extremely fun albeit easy action-platformer with a beautiful artstyle that remind me of the classic Disney animations such as Robin Hood. The story went to farily dark place for what is an extremely colourful cartoon style. Despite the writing being very heavy handed with the plot and emotional scenes it had me laughing several times with the dialogue between the main characters Dust and Fidget.

  • Having played the free mod several years ago I had high expectations for this full release. Although it does recycle some of the 'endings' from the mod the fully realised version adds so many fantastic moments, some very short, some far far longer that somehow manages to maintain the laughs for the 3 or so hours it took me to beat.

  • Bought this during a steam sale expecting to get a few hours of messing around out of it. Instead I found an extremely relaxing games that's a pleasure to play.

  • Wow what an interesting and clever game. Mr Klepek's quick look sold me on this game and I am really glad i spent the hour or so to finish it. The game oozes a beautiful yet disturbing atmosphere with its paper popup book like presentation and superb sound design. There are a few jump scares that I didn't think fit the tone of the game and some of the puzzles require writing down memorisation and it is a pain in the arse to backtrack. When i 'finished' the game I didn't see why the game was praised to highly. The narrative is was extremely vague and incomprehensible and I was quite frankly disappointed. Then right at the very end it gave me a new clue. I won't say what happens after that but it cleared up any confusion I had and it was an absolute pleasure to 'follow the trail' from that point onward in what is a very satisfying part of the game.
