Haven't been on the site much since the last group departed, but as someone who has been here since Arrow Pointing Down, who didn't even flinch when subs were announced (of course I was going to support the team!), who randomly cried more than I probably should have when we lost Ryan, who I never met but felt like I'd know my entire life, who hated Dan initially but eventually loved what he brought to the site and was super bummed when he left, and who felt like a piece of the Internet had died when Vinny&Co left the building, Jeff leaving is kind of confirmation that this is no longer the Bomb I lived to listen to and watch.
It was an amazing run though, and I hope whatever's left finds an audience big enough to warrant their continued existence. This is Jeff Green leaving 1Up levels of disassembly, ripping the engine out of a rocket.
So I'm picking this up Day 1. I can see why a lot of gamers are 100% put off by it, but I also think there's a niche for this game and a sizable group of people that will play it and love it. As much as the Call of Duty Smash Bros generation like to put gaming into a box that meets their own expectations, there are a ton of people who play games like Farming Simulator, Bus Simulator, Truck Simulator (s), Gold Rush, 7 Days To Die, etc, games with no stories, no characters to flesh out, etc, but a gameplay loop that appeals to a subset of people who enjoy doing a task over and over to build up a meter.
No game is for everyone, but every game is for someone.
Got around 11 hours into this game, and it's really just started opening up in the last few. It's definitely been a little bit of a slog to get to the meat of the game, but I've been loving it since it's ramped up. I'm actually kind of surprised this is getting any sort of visibility on the site, but glad it is, one way or the other.
The back-handed PS4 bashing while still struggling to make a case for the XB1X got old pretty quickly. I would rather not have Jeff wade into this kind of stuff when his stance has been pretty well known for awhile.
Normally I don't even care, but when the Pro launched it was just like a constant stream of "What is this thing, Sony f'd up, stupid Sony!" up to and including this podcast, and with MS, it's "I feel really bad for Microsoft, they can't catch a break." Come on, man.
