@johnlocke: Gutierrez retired with a brake failure according to Gunther Steiner in Ted's race notebook.
@rethla: I wouldn't necessarily call Renault backmarkers, they're more like midfielders judging from recent results. K-Mag got close to the points this time around, and both him and Palmer got close in Australia. It's possible K-Mag could have scored there if he didn't get that puncture since he was able to work his way from the back after the red flag restart.
@xenolon: I would go as far to say that Grosjean's 5th here proves the 6th at Australia wasn't a total fluke. Looks like Gene and company made a rather respectable package to start the season, but the results likely won't last once McLaren, Renault, and Force India get their shit together as apparently the Haas car is pretty much finished for the season. I would expect them, along with Toro Rosso if Ferrari continues developing their current engine, to start falling back in the latter part of the season.
Manor Racing's Facebook page is... not nice to read, thanks to some incredibly nationalistic Haryanto fans. Shame on me I guess for being curious enough to check that page out. Rio's shaping up to be the next Alex Yoong, who was another underwhelming Asian government-supported driver from yesteryear, at the moment. On the other hand, props to Wehrlein for beating both Force Indias, who were just nowhere the entire race.
If Kimi somehow ends up in the Sprint Cup, it definitely won't be in Stewart's #14 since Clint Bowyer is already confirmed to take that car next year.
This is probably wishful thinking, but I wouldn't mind seeing him take the #10 as that is also a Stewart-Haas car, and he might do a better job than Danica.
