Like it or not DLC are here to stay and they are not going anywhere. The beautiful about them is that you don't have to buy them. Nothing wrong with developers and publishers wanting to make more money on their games. I am just so sick of your constant whining about them. except it as fact and move on. You were wrong about the Uncharted 2 MP and you're wrong about this issue, period.  "
No, I am not. Just because you disagree does not mean you are right.  There *is* someting wrong with publishers selling games piece meal and charging more for it instead of selling a complete product.  Luckily, Darksiders doesn't have this problem. "
I guess expansion packs shouldn't exist either. Actually, why even have sequels? Why not just take 10 years and put the entire franchise into one game?  DLC is simply a way to give consumer's what they want. If people are willing to pay, then there is absolutely no reason why DLC shouldn't exist. And the thought that multiplayer automatically makes a game "half-assed" is completely idiotic.  "
It does. Fact.

I am happy that Darksiders has no multiplayer, and no DLC.

I am going to buy this game new on my next pay day to support this kind of thinking, which favours the customer, instead of screwing them.
Why am I constantly being attacked for posting something *GOOD*?

I mean would you rather go back to the days when there was no DLC, or post launch support from the developers and if they wanted to add something to the game that they just didn't have time to finish before the game launched (developer do have a schedule) then they would have to reissue the whole damn game and only the PC gamers got it as a cheaper DLC?  "
It would be good if it was that way, some times it is. But most of the time is actually charging for something that before would have been in the game. I would totally go back to those days. "

Exactly. I would be more than happy to go back to those days.

The thing is, if you want to consider games as art, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Works of art (music, books, movies) stand on their own, to be judged when they're *complete*, to be judged as a whole product.

If people want games to be seriously considered as art, then they need to shed this kind of blatant, crass consumerism and stand on their own.

The only movies I can think of that have been tinkered with afterwards are the Star Wars special editions, and we all know how those turned out.

There are too many money men like Bobby Kotick who only see dollar signs and "monetising potential" for everything, and it's ruining gaming.

Go to www.gamerankings.com - there are quite a few reviews for it, and they are all positive.

Hey, I'm genuinely *happy* about this and I am going to buy the game at full price to support developers who do this.

How is that trolling?

For a game based on, well, the end of everything, the fact that Darksiders won't be receiving any DLC isn't exactly a revelation. But it's true -- Vigil Games creative director and famed comic book illustrator behind the game's visual style, Joe Madureira, confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer that DLC and multiplayer weren't part of the developer's plan, nor does it intend to tackle them post-launch.

"We were a new team building new tech and a new IP. We had our work cut out for us," Madureira explained when asked about both, adding, "Vigil has a very strong all-or-nothing mentality, and if we're not confident we can pull it off, we're not doing it. So we focused on making the most kick-ass single-player game possible." Not to say that multiplayer was never a possibility -- it was just a short-lived one: "We realized early on that we wouldn't be able to pull off the scope of game we wanted to and have it be multiplayer," he said.

In this day and age, it is nice to see people focus on a good single player game and get it *finished*.

WIth positive reviews across the board, I'm totally getting this.

Since I'm stuck babysitting my f*cking nephew and bored out of my tree, I figured I'd make a list.

What are your Top 10 games of the decade?

Mine (in no order) are:

Silent Hill 2
Ico
Metal Gear Solid 3 (Subsistence Version)
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
GTA III
Final Fantasy X
Katamari Damacy
Suikoden III
Eternal Darkness
Hydro Thunder (yes, really)

Probably the closest to making this list from this gen would be the first Uncharted. (Granted I have not been able to play Demons Souls or Batman AA yet)

" Not true.  Like I mentioned previously, the content for Dragon Age was not held back.  It was only released alongside the game because of heavy delays, which is why most of the DLC you get for free with the game, because they knew people like you would make exactly this reaction.  They're currently working on the next piece of DLC to be released in a couple of months too.  Has that just been held back as well? "
Yes, but you're wrong.

It *is* held back and sold piece meal.

It is not hard to see that.

" There is one piece of DLC that you have to buy that doesn't come with the game regularly.  It has little impact on the story or even the lore. And again, if you think this is bad, please go back a few pages and see my comments about JRPG's and DLC.  Inparticularly, Tales of Vespira. "
You are exactly right about Tales of Vesperia. But this is no different. This is holding back content to make the user pay more.

" So you're saying GB have no work ethic because they're not covering the game you want them to, correct?  Wow, how self centred are you? "
I just wish I could see your face when Uncharted 2 either wins or comes very close to winning. "

My issue with the game isn't whether GIant Bomb cover it or not, and I have no complaints about GB's work ethic.
