Yeah, I won't touch this game until they put up the PS+ version. And by the time that happens, it will probably end up being the whole thing without the season pass content. They really messed this stuff up big time.
@lausebub: Weird thing about that song: one of the devs suggested a Stellastarr* song for the credits, Kojima misheard it, and lo and behold, Starsailor, of all bands, end up in Metal Gear Solid 3.
Really? Kojima really is a real creator on the level of Jobs or Miyamot. Only hears what he wants to hear. Altough, I'm actual glad that they didn't go with Stellastarr*.
The question is whether they're gonna play PW at all. I think Dan may have said that they might not do that one and I heard PW doesn't lend itself too well for MGScanlon since it's repetitive in some ways.
I beat The Fury yesterday. How do you get that camo?
Do you have to punch or knife him in CQC or something?
You have to take him out the non-lethal way, I didn't do that though. I just used RPG's, Sniper Rifles and up close knifing.
Every boss drops a special camo if you take them out non-lethaly.
I didn't kill a single boss. You have to collect the camo from them but you only get a small time frame the Fury since that area gets destroyed afterwards. Answered my own question the hard way, because I couldn't get The Boss's camouflage in time.
Anyway, finished the game and damn, if it isn't one of the best video games I've had the chance to play. There are a couple of annoying section near the end(backtracking in the base, Eva escort), item management could've been better, but otherwise just a ton of fun to play and the world, the characters heck, sometimes even the story Kojima told with this one were damn good. Also, I killed like way more people than I thought I did(9).
I really hope they eventually end up doing MGS3. Wouldn't have a single problem to watch Drew play through that game shortly after I've finished it.
More importantly though, why am I listening to a Starsailor album right now?! Metal Gear?!
I wonder if Drew will find this an easier time than previously. For me personally, I've never played MGS3 before (for whatever reason I missed it). So far I'm up to the torture scene with Volgin, and while I have died a few times during the game proper (often in a Drew-esque way of thinking it's just easier to die than be bothered fighting, although I fight my way out of most situations now), the first time I died in a boss fight was against The Fury where I needed 3 tries. All the others were first time defeats. I'm only playing on normal, which I imagine Drew will as well. I think with the Motion Detector, camo, first person view etc, it's pretty straight forward to avoid enemies. Also, while it takes quite a while to properly regenerate health, Snake seems to be able to take a lot of hits in comparison to the prior games.
Indeed, Big Boss is a bullet sponge and can run around CQC'ing people, without taking much damage and if you're hurt you can just lay down and grab something to drink if you're out of rations. I liked that it was more forgiving since I fucked up quite a lot in big bases and suck pretty much at stealth.
I died a lot on the Fury, mainly because I got impatient because he didn't show his face soon enough and get burned a lot.
Yeah, the first time you fight the Fury is difficult because you don't have the Fury's camo which mitigates fire damage. But once you have that on subsequent play-throughs, he becomes a lot easier.

Since you posted in the podcast board: I'm not the biggest Dan fan as a co-host. His stories are cool and he's a positive guy, but I really miss Patrick and Vinny for the games discussion. Vinny especially is just always on the fucking point and honest with his opinions and Dan just stays a bit too much in the background during those segments. Videos are where he shines. I hope they keep Jason in there. He doesn't that all that much either, but since Dan and Drew are not that active, having another voice in there definitely helps. And I like the stuff he plays. I do understand if they can't have him on every single week since both editors would be absent in that case. Unless they could send Vinny the files with iCloud mail or whatever. Speaking of him, really hope that Alex and him start up their own regular podcast once they've found their third person for GBE. I miss Bombin' the AM a lot.
