Cool it's the 40+ duders being cynical on new games time!
Yeah I can't take it any more unfortunately, Giant bomb used to be my favorite gaming site, I've been a part of this site since the beginning but I just can't take the negativity anymore. It's too predictable and it's almost like its become their brand. Video games are a fun escape for me, especially with everything going on in the world. I just can't deal with it anymore , it's been a good ride.
I know Ben got shut down by Jeff pretty quickly, but to think at all that $70 games is going to reduce crunch is laughable at best. I also agree with Jeff this spread out thing all summer has really made me think that real winner so far this summer was E3.
Rare has showed Everwild before Brad after Sea of Thieves, has a weird Journey meets Breath of the Wild look, no idea what it actually is.
late edit: chat corrected him a minute later ;)
Exactly the 70$ price tag is bullshit, and I am a dev myself.
This was a really lackluster attempt they should have waited a few night wires in to show brain dance because people were hyped for night wire and this was a wet thud for future showings. Brain dance also being described as "going on too long" in an ign preview makes me go yeah that is what I figured with a mechanic like that. I just wanna do a brain dance on enemies with a shotgun, can we keep this game more about the combat and less about the ugh, story.
The Braindance is a new mechanic that you could use exactly like all the investigation stuff from Witcher 3 and if you played that it isn't surprising and you can imagine how they'd use it. I thought Vinny would bring that up.
All that was great by the way. I do not get the bad reaction to it.
While I've followed much of the GB staff since before GB even existed, Dan was a driving force in getting me hooked on the site's content. His enthusiasm was a perfect contrast to the world-weariness of the other staff. His naïveté and eccentricities have made me laugh on countless occasions. He's been the creative force behind almost every GB video series I've enjoyed.
On top of all that, his book "Anxiety as an Ally" got me to try meditation again, which has been hugely helpful for me.
I wholeheartedly agree, his positive personality was so refreshing. His departure will really affect my enjoyment of the site from here on!
Besides Abby Dan was one of the more refreshing personalities I've enjoyed over the years on Giantbomb. His departure will definitely make the site less enjoyable for me. All good things must come to an end I guess.
