I've waited YEARS for this game. I haven't even played anything else in a very long time and after the first few hours of the initial missions and finally getting to the Eos mission, it's like: holy shit, that looks like a Dragon Age: Inquisition region map!!! And then, the remote mining and drop pods seem a bit annoying. There's no real explanation for how this remote shit works and it reminds me of Halo. Just dumbing it down & over-simplifying the details. Details are the steak and potatoes of an R-fucking-PG!!!
The dead bodies laying around look like mannequins that remind me of Fallout 3. At this point, I'm like: "What the fuck is going on?? This isn't Mass Effect!!" The game has the feel of being an unfinished knock-off done by a third party that doesn't have any experience in video games.
All I know for certain: I won't be paying full price for the sequel to this game, assuming it has one. It's like they tuned down the storyline to appeal to 12-year-olds that only care about hopping around in jump jets and shooting shit...twitch-style gaming for kids with short attention spans.
It's like high quality video games are in a state of decay, just like the movie industry. Let's lower the bar and keep it dumb!!! I get more out of Stellaris than I'll get out of this. At least with Stellaris, my imagination can add to the game. But instead they give you the role of Pathfinder and all you do is get out and shoot shit...plus the Mako (Nomad? Why change the damn name or appearance??).
You can go get the Traveller RPG and they have entire scenarios for "path-finding" called Scouts, that go and explore new worlds for habitability. When I first started playing the game, I was hoping they were drawing from Traveller's Scouts or other exploration sci-fi...but they seem to be pissing all that away so it can be a space-age Call of Duty knock-off....in Andromeda (lol).
You know I think Stargate did this too. Took the whole story to another galaxy. It was actually pretty good..compared to what I'm seeing with ME:A so far.
A bit disappointed. The way the first game was, you moved around more & were more worldly while also fighting a lot more bosses. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for 1/3rd of the game I got based on the last Deus Ex game.
We never got to see the Robin alien race. :-/ Excellent quick look. I was thinking about skipping this one based on some negative reviews on Steam, but after going through this Quick Look, the game looks very well worth having & playing. They really did a great job with it. I didn't think it work as a non turn-based game either, but it looks very playable.
Btw, where are the damn Hexagons??? This is a space game after all!
@kimozabi: I agree. It's getting ridiculous. Pay for a game & then keep putting add-ons into it & they're not very cheap. They add up instead.
Hell, I've been balking at $60 for a game these days & then they'll throw on another $45 in DLC. I can only find time to play the main game so it can be a long time before I get to DLC.
So that's why they called it the Taken King. If you bought the original Destiny then you've been had!! May the Kings of (being) Taken unite under the flag that is destiny. 8-}
