My Personal Favourite Videogame Music - Volume Two!

MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE VIDEOGAME MUSIC - VOLUME TWO!

This is my second volume of favourite videogame soundtracks I have come to love over the years. Most are pretty modern, I'm not a huge retro fan so not many of these are from the 90's although I do have a good collection of songs I'm greatly fond of from the Sega days. But I hope theres something on this list you enjoy listening to, and maybe write up your own list in comments or even in your own blog. I would enjoy checking it out. This is a pretty quick blog then usual due to some computer problems but I hope you at least find something to enjoy listening to. If you wish to check out my first volume then please click here. I basically felt that there were still many tunes I was unable to mention in the first blog so it was only right I do another. So enjoy!

CURTAINS - PETER GABRIEL (MYST IV SOUNDTRACK)

This beautiful piece of music was found in Myst IV, I'm not totally sure if it ever saw an actual release but it's a great tune that brings back fond memories of the Myst series on PC. This section was a magical moment in gaming, so simple yet so beautiful. It's a song that's special to most who have experienced the Myst series.

BABA YETU! (CIVILIZATION IV SOUNDTRACK)

What a great way to get you in the mood for some Civ action, this intro to the fourth in the series of PC strategy games was indeed a special one. A stunning tune that was even mentioned in many reviews when the game was released. It as since been performed many times at Video Games Live shows.

HERE'S TO YOU - ENNIO MORRICONE (METAL GEAR SOLID 4 SOUNDTRACK)

A beautiful ending tune to a beautiful ending game, in my personal opinion Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the best games ever made and it had a soundtrack to match. Fanboys on both sides can go to war daily but I know a classic game when I see one and MGS4 was indeed a classic game. This beautiful piece of music was both sad and a great tribute to how many gamers felt about the end of Solid Snake. I'm pretty sure some gamers got a little emotional seeing and hearing the ending of MGS4. I know I did and this tune as been stuck in my memory since.

JERUSALEM (ASSASSINS CREED SOUNDTRACK)

Asassins Creed didn't please everyone, many hated it with such a passion that I never understood. Mainly because I found it to be one of the most fantastic and entertaining games I've ever played. No game as ever matched the fantastic time it represented and you honestly felt you were part of the world. This was partly thanks to the unforgettable music, whatever you think of Assassins Creed, you can't deny that it had some stunning pieces of music.

STILL ALIVE - LISA MISTOVSKY (MIRROR'S EDGE SOUNDTRACK)

A pretty new entry into my list, but a song I can't stop listening to. It's a stunning tune that matches the game in almost every way. Of course we have heard a version of the Mirror's Edge theme since the first trailer was first shown sometime back. But without a doubt this is the ultimate version of the song. So beautiful and so special.

CALLING (THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU)

There isn't many DS games with a great soundtrack, yet Square Enix's 'The World Ends With You' offered a whole collection of great tunes to game to. I could have easily put 'Twister' in here but I felt Calling was a better tune.  It also sounds great on the DS which is most important. It's a good song to end this list for now I think.

I hope theres something you may like yourself, but if you have your own list of personal favourite Videogame soundtracks then please post the list in comments or maybe if you've done a past similar to this yourself. I would be happy to check it out myself. So enjoy your videogame music and appriate what fantastic artists are out there currently in the videogame industry.

I love the Civilization IV song. I sit on the menu and watch the earth just to listen to it sometimes. It's really soothing.
