Flourishing your lightsabers (or other melee weapons) in the KOTOR games, while out of combat. Utterly useless, but looked pretty sweet.

Also, the jump in Ni No Kuni. For some reason, that was an incredibly satisfying move to use, despite it having no purpose. The animation!

I'd play it, but only if each individual block was a complex character with a deep backstory revealed through side-mission mini-games that increase the player's affinity with that block, as well as enabling potential romance.

Oh, and there'd have to be loot.

...

Seriously, though, it's a rad idea. Add RPG elements to anything, and you've almost immediately sold me. I'm such a sucker for that.

Best of luck to you Eric! Change and the unknown can be frightening, but the payoff and satisfaction of success can be equally tremendous.

@discomposure: Wow, I didn't know that about Virtue's Last Reward. I played and adored that game on my Vita (999 was one of my favourite games on the DS), and simply due to the massive scope of that game, what with the multiple play-throughs, I imagine I would have been livid if I had suffered any save corruption. You do have a point, though, that the size of the developer plays a role in expectations. Bugs are slightly more forgivable in the smaller studio titles, as you go in with more apprehension. Though it's still annoying that despite all the certification and QA testing, some serious game-breaking glitches get so often overlooked.

@rorie: Yeah, and that's the thing. I would say most people had no major issues with Inquisition, but there is still a fairly sizable number of people out there who can't play it for fairly serious reasons (true, I'm judging this based on contributions to the Bioware forums, which is of course not reflective of the total audience, so my perspective might be skewed). It's just a bummer, because even if all my issues get fixed in the next patch (still not announced), I'm not going to be able to ignore the interruption, and my experience will be lesser for it. A real disappointment for a game I was so looking forward to.

@zirilius: I definitely feel the same way. I understand it must be incredibly difficult to test games across such a vast spectrum of hardware configurations (which, consequently, is why game issues on consoles feels a whole lot more insulting than on PC), but that doesn't stifle the frustration that erupts upon a crash to desktop and a woefully vague error message. Even when I can compare one game running beautifully on my PC with another that chugs and skips like a sloth on steroids, I still can never be 100% sure whether it's something in my configuration, something that I'm responsible for, that is causing the issues.

I like to consider myself fairly tech-savvy, but sometimes I really just hate computers :P

If you're looking for console-like experiences, both Uncharted and Killzone Mercenary are pretty great versions of their respective franchises, with gorgeous graphics and solid gameplay. Maybe not to everyone's tastes, but I thoroughly enjoyed them.

If you're a fan of the LittleBigPlanet games, the Vita version is personally my favourite. Batman: Blackgate is a neat Metroid-style game that carries the essence of the Arkham games into the 2.5D plane. And, as a total nostalgia recommendation, I picked up Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition, and that games holds up incredibly well, in addition to playing brilliantly on the Vita. Mindless shooting with a focus on exploration and secrets, but that might just be my childhood self talking.

And I'll second Gravity Rush, Danganronpa, and Virtue's Last Reward. All fantastic games well worth the time.

@geraltitude: That's the hardest part: when, for whatever reason, a game doesn't work for you, but works perfectly fine for others. If a game is fairly universally borked, then at least you can console yourself in the fact that most people are in the same boat. When the split is less one-sided, it adds a sense of exile to the whole thing, like somehow it's your fault that the game isn't working. At least, that's how it seems sometimes.
