A lot of gamers seem to think that publishers are charity cases and have the right to survive, and that it would be the end of the world if they went under. Well, none of that is true. They are businesses, which means they need to persuade people to give them their money, and they never have the right to twist the consumer's arm. If ANY COMPANY goes down because of used games, so what? Someone will take their place, and it'll probably someone who knows how to make money without pissing people off.

If that's not the honest truth about how real god damn capitalism works then I don't know what is. Don't feel bad for developers or publishers. Fuck them all. This is not something that is affecting the consumer end. This is a truly "pull yourself by your own boot straps" fucking deal. Next thing that'll happen is that idiots will demand we "bail-out" developers and publishers that are going under for having a shitty business model.

"  it's a bit annoying listening to the crew shit on it constantly"

That's all I'm trying to say.

I'm just trying to point out that everything that the Giantbomb crew says about Assassin's Creed nowadays is full of vitriol. The crew, specially Jeff and Ryan, have just blown up the small number of issues in the first Assassin's Creed game and made it sound like the game suffers from crippling issues that apparently make the game unplayable.

To be honest I didn't really think they would be so vicious in their defense of the crew. It's not like I'm saying they should take it back. I'm just merely pointing out how incredibly out of context they are taking the flaws of the first Assassin's Creed game and ballooning it up into unbelivable proportions.

As opposed to the tremendous amount of respect and civility you're showing towards the OP's opinions, right? "

Thanks for the support, but I doubt he can understand the irony of what it is he's doing.

@HatKing:
I played through the entirety of the original Assassin's Creed again after playing through Assassin's Creed 2. It is not unplayable. A game made in 2007 by Ubisoft Montreal as their premiere holiday title is not a game that you "can't imagine that game is even remotely playable today." Maybe if this was the future of 2020 when we all play games that are downloaded to our eyelids (the superior platform) then that might be true.

I am not arguing that the first Assassin's Creed is better the Assassin's Creed 2. I agree that the Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood are both superior games. I'm saying that the crew lives in a crazy upside down reality where the first Assassin's Creed is a busted game that a person suffers through from start to finish.

I love the alternate reality that the entire Bombcast takes place in.

You know, that alternate reality where the first Assassin's Creed is one of the most painful experiences in modern video game history.

Where Fable 3 is the most dissappointing game of 2010.

These two are but the most recent examples of the crazy reality that these guys live in. It's amazing to me that they do not connect the dots between their opinions of these and other games, and the fact that they are in a unique position (by way of their chosen profession) to experience things that the average consumer and video game enthusiast does not.

"The Fable 3 that Giant Bomb perceives and the Fable 3 that the rest of the world perceives are so bafflingly divergent. Yes, it had some issues, but they were forgiveable. The real reason the game has been infamous on GB is because Brad screwed up his endgame. He wasn't paying attention -- probably trying to rush through to complete his review -- and now any time the game comes up on the podcast, I find it very frustrating to listen. "

Lol, you as a Fable 3 fan have no fucking idea how painful and frustrating it is to listen to this group of people talk about Halo. I could tear my hair out at some of the conversations that have taken place with this group. You think Fable 3 has it tough? Well you should try being a Halo (whole franchise) fan and listening to some of the comments these people make...

Still worth it in the end. These guys are all cool and all but way fucking biased in some very specific ways.

If you didn't come here because Jeff got fired from GameSpot you are fucking morons.

All their special stuff keeps me here though. Endurance Runs, TANG, and Bombcast.

The rest of their crap is second or third rate at best. Other sites have better "Quick Looks" (previews),  more news, and more reviews.

"I'm in the "crappy games don't deserve sequels" camp. The first Kane & Lynch was so uniformly awful that there's no way I'm going to waste my time on the sequel. The time, effort and money put into this game would probably have been better spent on a completely different franchise. It's bad enough that we get so many damned sequels to mediocre games. "

Exactly... That plus the fact that Io Interactive actually has another franchise they can make a game for.

I'm much more interested in the next Hitman game since they never truly made the jump to next generation consoles with Hitman. The last game suffered on the 360 because it was also made for the PS2 and didn't reach its full Next Generation potential...

Also, to reiterate my point earlier...

Why all the sensitive talk around here?

Fuck Kane and Lynch 2... (Game looks like shit)
Fuck Eidos... (For the entire fiasco which is their fault)
Fuck Io Interactive... (For not having the brains and enough of a conscience to leave a shitty franchise buried. They had the option to stop making this shitty game and use those resources and manpower to make another franchise or to actually make a next generation Hitman.)

MildMolasses you are completely right. Jeff and his story completely overshadows anything anybody has to say about this game, and that's exactly the way it should be. Everybody that has subscribed to this site knows exactly why they came here. We all love it and we all visit it for a reason. That reason is the people that work at GiantBomb and their personalities. They both are a huge reason why many of us came here. They are as important to many of us that visit as the games they cover.

You really think people come here for their coverage? To be completely honest I don't really care for most of the content as far as previews and pre-release information is posted here. I care about the way it's presented by the people that work here. Jeff, Ryan, Vinny, Brad and the rest of the crew have amazing personalities that give a unique twist to alot of the content produced here. I can get better coverage on bigger sites. I don't even need to name any sites out there that are bigger with better coverage and huge amounts of information in them. I come here for them. I and many like me have come here and migrated with Jeff and the crew because we like what they offer in way of personality and charisma.
