Liberty, once lost, is lost forever. -John Adams

All things old become new again. The internet has made it important, vital even, to see what someone else has to say. Anonymity has been a governing friend which, unfortunately, is now an abused liberty.

Enter, worth.

The enterprising individuals, rightfully so, reap well; especially when there is controversy. Sure, they will get involved to protect their product, again rightfully so, but that governing is out of necessity. Not joy.

Brothers, we are not professionals. -John Piper

Ours is a different worth. Our common ground is a love for video games and the chance to live vicariously through a handful of super cool dudes a few times a week. Therefore I propose a different government, not at odds with the powers that be, rather the heart inside the structure.

No one can serve two masters. -Jesus

1 part empathy, 3 parts empathy. But fight we must, both with and for each other! Fight with integrity, not as our national leaders do at times. We can do it better.

Abuse must be right out! It's sole intent is instant judgement. It cannot live with empathy and the boneyard of American marriages testify to that end. There is no room for insult and threat. That is Value without Virtue, and look how it ends. Felt like a police state around here this past Independence Day, no?

The life of the law has not been logic; it has been experience. -Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

We have grown and need dynamic and responsible governing. We must have a standard of good we can all agree on and be submissive to. I propose a bill of rights, or rather, a Declaration of Cooperation. Not a terms of service. Something that is foolishness to those folks but vital to us. Leaders, give us something to agree upon!

Patrick is Thomas Jefferson (I trust you'll do the right thing. And there is no reproach in those words)

Vinny is John Adams

Y'all get it.

@thomasnash: Sure, that'd be an interesting situation. Especially since cbs employees are amending forum posts to their tastes. The argument could be made that thought and intent are changed as they are filtered through another party.

How am I assured as a consumer that my intellectual contributions are handled justly? And who (is it 'to whom'?) are the filters accountable to?

Unfortunately, density is the only thing that will kill sound travel. If you're good with a saw perhaps you could save a few bucks and make something like:

Probably MDF board. Something thick n heavy.

@mb: I think I'm still trying to find the right words to ask. Good on you to pick that up over text!

I wanna say I'm interested in who is accountable to who and for what.

Ok.

So then CBS? I guess I'm wondering who is making the rules and the logic behind them. Especially since the landscape for acceptable forum protocol is changing.

Thanks for the input folks.

Hey fellow Bombers.

I'm curious about who owns the content of these forum posts, namely, the community's contributions and the minutia pertaining to that sort of thing.

Anyone know if that information available to the public?

@cretaceous_bob:

I was genuinely hurt and turned off from the product for a while. That's all. I'm not trying dismiss people who don't agree with me in a subtle, smart allec sort of way. Please don't accuse me of that by mincing my words.

Hey fellow Bombers. Long time listener, first time caller.

Jeff's post was quite refreshing in reaffirming what goes into a meaningful community, no? I'm glad we are still committed to those principles.

But reference the Sang-Froid Quicklook from June of last year in which there were a handful of really mean spirited and cynical comments regarding religion. In my estimation they directly violated the thought, direction, and spirit of Jeff's recent post:

Some comments from the community:

As someone who acknowledges the faith I felt belittled, insulted, nauseous (probably the flu I had at the time), and excluded. I was left with the nagging thought, 'This is the way GB is going now' and that sucked. (I'm glad I was wrong about that. Thanks, Jeff.)

Of course I would like an apology and the video to be taken down but that is not what this is about. My point is to show the community and hierarchy that the breeding of this contempt that called Jeff to respond is at the fault of both the staff and the community.

Cheers to the future of GB and it's consumers. Let's do it better this year.
