Dr. Zed achievement issues...

My friend and I were playing the new Borderlands DLC, and we completed the "Dr. Zed's House" mission. The problem is that it rewarded him with the achievement, but not me. We tried to finish the mission again, but encountered the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Borderlands patches for 360 and PS3 scheduled for 10/30

Apparently Gearbox is releasing a patch tomorrow for some of the bugs in Borderlands. Unfortunately, the corrupt save and lost skill point issues aren't being addressed in this update. Gearbox says they are investigating solutions to the skill point and corrupt save problems, and will release fixes as they are discovered. Check below for a list of 360 and PS3 fixes in tomorrows update.  A shout out goes to ennui on the Gearbox forums for keeping gamers in the loop.

An update for the 360 version of Borderlands will be deployed tomorrow, 10/30, at 2am CST. This update will include fixes for issues that some 360 users have been experiencing.

Many issues have been addressed here, but we are continuing work on support updates for all platforms, and will deploy fixes for every version as soon as possible and continue to support all platforms. If you are experiencing an issue that has not been addressed, please post on our technical support forums and let us know!

Update notes:
  • Fixed a bug which caused players and other things in the world to appear incorrectly on clients in networked games
  • fixed a bug in which players gibbed in arena combat disappeared
  • fixed a bug which caused the dollars counter to spin continuously
  • fixed a bug that caused the digger elevator to be unusable after completing the Find Tannis mission
  • Weapon mapping to the D-pad should no longer reverse left and right
  • various localization and other text and tooltip corrections
  • The introductory quests with CL4P-TP should now always progress properly all the time
  • Lilith's Phase Strike ability now works as intended
  • Load times have been improved

Borderlands is broken...

So, my friend and I were playing a two player split screen session of Borderlands on the 360. We decided we had enough, found a save point, and saved. After I came home from work, my roommate and I decided we wanted to play again. I turned on the game, and we both signed into our profiles. To my amazement my level 17 siren file was corrupted, but there was nothing wrong with my roommates level 17 solider file on his profile! That's almost twelve hours down the drain!

I'm sure I didn't turn off my 360 when it was saving, so I hopped online to research the issue. Apparently, I'm not the only one having this problem, and there are a number of bugs associated with this game. I wanted to know if anyone else on Giant Bomb has experienced this problem? Hopefully Gearbox can fix this because I really want to get back into this game with my roommate, but neither of us want to continue this game without Gearbox fixing this issue.

Here is a link to the Gearbox forums that has a list of known and fixed bugs in Borderlands. Unfortunately, a number of the bugs are game breaking.

The Red Ring of Death has halted my progress in Shadow Complex!

So, I was playing Shadow Complex when my 360 flashed the red ring of death. I was about four hours in, and had to be close to finishing the game. FML!

When sending in my box to Microsoft do I need to remove my regular faceplate from my Elite? Do I include the faceplate in the cardboard coffin my x box is in?

Finished P4

So, I just finished Persona 4 the other day. I feel guilty after spending 116 hours of my life playing this game, but man was it awesome! I collected  93% of the Personae, and completed most of the social links. Time for Shadow Complex!

The Roots Rising Down

So I've been a fan of The Roots for a number of years, but was hesitant to pick up their newest album Rising Down. I like all their records, but with The Tipping Point, and Game Theory it sounded like they were becoming complacent with their sound, and frankly they stopped exploring new musical territory. The Roots make an impressive effort to change up their style a bit on their newest album, and boy does it pay off! Rising Down is the kick in the ass that reminded me that The Roots are one of the most talented groups in modern music period. Its crazy to think that they are dropping another album in 2009. If your into Hip Hop with substance, and don't know who The Roots are, do your self a favor and buy their whole musical catalog!

Persona 4 is bitchin'.

I have had a used copy of Persona 4 collecting dust on my shelf for awhile now. I finally fired it up, and I'm truly impressed. Although the battle system is similar to most RPG's, the social link stuff really sets Persona 4 apart from other games. It's not often that I can find a game to play with my girlfriend, but shes really into it too! I just saved Yuki-chan last night!

Video Game Value

Bag em' and tag em'. I'm done with this repetitive game!
Bag em' and tag em'. I'm done with this repetitive game!
I recently decided that I should go back to some of the games I've played this past year to earn the 360 achievements that I missed. A few days ago I fired up Mass Effect in my 360, but replaying that game has been like pulling teeth for me. Although you have the choice of going Paragon or Renegade, which is supposed to create a completely different in game experience, the game play doesn't differ enough to warrant another play through.

I feel like I experienced all there was to in the city of Rapture, and obtained most of the achievements on my first play through anyways. I saw both endings in GTA 4, I made one of the final choices and then restarted the game and made the other so I could see both endings. Also, I really hate the auto targeting in GTA's lame online modes. COD 4 on Veteran is a nightmare. I usually have no trouble in the levels, but there are a couple of sticky spots that are extremely difficult, and must be replayed a million times in order to be completed. Not worth the frustration!

The past year has been phenomenal when it comes to the quality of games that have been released for all platforms. Mass Effect amazed me, I couldn't put down Bioshock, GTA 4's story was extremely engaging, and Call of Duty 4 still soaks up a great deal of my gaming time. Still, I feel slightly ripped off when it comes to the overall value of these games. I simply have no desire to replay any of their single player campaigns. When games cost $60.00 there should be a higher level of replay-ability. I know some people will argue that there is a high level of replay-ability in these titles, but I don't buy it. After finishing GTA 4 a couple months ago I realized that I had nothing to play!

I would have loved to play MGS 4, but unfortunately I don't own a PS3. I have been mulling over finally purchasing Symphony of the Night on XBLA, but I really doubt that it will keep me interested since I have played it so many times before. I know that there are a number of fantastic games coming out in the near future, but as of right now I'm stuck grinding out prestige levels in COD 4, and I think I'm going to lose my mind!

Someone better pop some smoke so I don't see this game ever again!

Battlefield: Bad Company looks remotely interesting, but I really don't know if I'm up for it after playing so much COD 4. I'm basically counting down the days till Too Human comes out so I can start playing something again. Too Human, Left 4 Dead, RE 5, and GOW 2 can't come soon enough. After being spoiled with a number of quality back to back releases this year I need something to play now! I pray that these games have a higher level of replay-ability than the titles mentioned above.
