You know, some of you are better singers than others. You're not the best talent out there, but I appreciate your heart and dedication. So it's a "Yes" from me. Congratulations Giant Bomb, you're going to Vegas!
I don't really think Yakuza 0 really nails the style of the era. Not enough big shoulder pads and most of the civilians are dressed just like every other npc in past Yakuza games. They all wear brown windbreakers or sweaters. All the music outside of karaoke does not reflect the period at all. Again it sounds like Yakuza music. It generally just feels like a Yakuza game until there's a cutscene or sidequest that reminds you that it's the 80's. It feels as 80's as MGSV.
Brad's dismissal of world building as story is real dumb. Dark Souls has good world building, but a bad story. Uncharted has a good story, but its world is just the real world. Best story and best character categories do not cover world building.
It's such a bummer that the final tone of the podcast was, learning things is for fancy people and be happy with only what you already know. It's not stupid to not know things, it's stupid to never want to learn new things.
That's why he encourages people to ask questions about things they don't know.
@tshngo: Sure the guy is divisive in terms of story, but we know he can make a good game. MGS4 is the only one I felt was a bad game because level structure and layout were just bad. Every other game is great though. MGSV, despite having a barebones narrative, plays incredibly well. It's his best game.
MGS without the wacky and surreal is not MGS. It'd be just another military story if you took out the ghosts and psychics and the unexplainable supernatural and the overlong melodrama.
