I love strategy games like Fire Emblem. I like taking my time and optimizing things. I loike seeing my units growing, changing, and becoming powerful. I like attaching little stories and quirks to them based on moments on the battlefield.
I don't like X-Com: Enemy Unknown. Maybe it's because I managed to quickly get satellites over every country before anyone pulled out, removing any sense of urgency. Maybe it's some of the technical jank. Maybe it's the way I can't check my chance to hit until after I've committed to making a move. Or, maybe it's because I prefer fantasy settings over sci-fi. Whatever it was, I got completely bored with the game roughly 1/3 of the way through.
