Game for Game, there are probably more 'Dust' games than 'Bow' games this year. Given how limited game mechanics are (just as book or film plots are limited) it's not surprising that there will be games based on small particles or games which use a bolt rather than a bullet or laser, the clustering is just statistical probability with no influence or analysis to be had, it's just a bit of fun.

Personally I want games like Diablo III with so many bows you need a bow selector.

@BeachThunder: You beat me to it! I hope we see another quick look, or for that matter more Roguelike coverage, after seeing Dave on an old justintv stream, and seeing the Dungeons of Dredmoor QL I finally took the plunge last year with DoD and Isaac but I didn't really like Spelunky or Hack Slash Loot.

I believe the Whore of Babylon is active as long as you have less than one full red heart, so if you have a hierophant card or balls of steel pill, it may be worth getting your health low then relying on spirit hearts. This also works for ??? aka The Blue Baby as he can not use red hearts. I got WoB immediately earlier and died in Womb 2.

Regarding laser/chocolate milk attacks, I sometimes find it detrimental too, but remember you can charge before entering a room and shoot an instant half charge shot. Also try to maximise arcades/blood donor machines even if it means backtracking to pick up health as an exploding donor machine guarantees a blood bag, and playing fruit machines a lot can give cards/pills/flies.

@crusader8463: Exactly, Patrick's tagline about Home is a bit misleading if you take it literally. Streaming over Home was cool for those whom use it but you didn't have to. I haven't even downloaded it since I switched to a Slim PS3 18 months ago.

One thing I liked about Dead Space was the Weyland Yutani style back story of the Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC) raping every celestial body they could find. Call me cynical but shouldn't that stay in fiction? One could argue asteroids are just irrelevant space debris but so was Earth until John de Lancie and Patrick Stewart watched those first cells form and some primordial compound which may form life or other interesting structures (super space oil?) in a few million years would likely be obliviously obliterated before it got started.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrraaashhhhhamase! 8-4 (Is that right?) I hope this means they won't be so strict to cease off topic chat in future, My favourite podcasts are those where the crew aren't afraid to talk bollocks. e.g Frank Skinner, Podtoid and the old Talkradar UK podcast before they stopped.

For me it's got to be some oldskool C64 SID chip compositions, the sounds of Ben Daglish, Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway et al shall be forever etched in my information cerebral brainways. N.B The quality and SID emulation on these videos is crap, even a good player such as Tinysidisn't perfect, if you remember these or like what you hear, check out the High Voltage SID Collection. (As with abandonware it's a bit of a grey area, but many of the SID files there have composer notes from interviews.) Also, can someone remind me who Chris Huelsbeck is with now, there isn't even a page for him.

I'd recommend clicking through to youtube and browse some of other peoples favourites.

Arkanoid (Martin Galway)

Parallax (Martin Galway)

Zynaps (Nigel Grieve)

The Last Ninja (Ben Daglish)

International Karate (Rob Hubbard)

Master of Magic (Rob Hubbard)

@ch13696: I realise this is an old topic, but if anyone else is on the verge VH:FoJ is actually quite a bit similar to the first game in that the features and skills are quite basic compared to other contemporary TRPGs such as Disgaea which have so many different ways of building and using characters, and the focus on text to lay out story and hints (remember the taverns.) There are no big annoying voiced animated portraits in the foreground here.

If you don't mind it being a bit basic and lacking polish in the presentation, it's worthwhile if a little overpriced, though in the interest of balance, Vandal Hearts was my first taste of RPGs apart from the Hero Quest license on the C64 and I have fond memories, and could easily play it again as a 'comfort game' in fact, all the plot twists are perhaps the reason I was not shocked as were many people at the events in FFVII

While I can understand Nintendo's stance to protect their family friendly image, it is sad that in this age, systems condoning slavery, homophobia, incest, omnipotent deities impregnating 13 year olds, murdering 'impure' brides/siblings and generally treating women as second class citezens are held as the right choice for Nintendo.
