Not too surprised, with Patrick on his own, doing his own content and GB doing a bit of a content shift, he seemed more the oddman out than anything. I'm sure he has a pretty big following now so wish ya the best Scoops!
I don't like AC games, but the fidelity of their worlds are amazing and the fact that outside the gameplay and story it's a period piece. I'd love to see Victorian London with that kind of production, so count me in.
I wish they would put the effort and money into making their worlds but for a different game.
I talked with a friend from Ubi yesterday and it seemed like this wasn't the companies decision, just a weird hiccup or something on Valve's side. Then again, devs dont really get any info or say in anything like this.
Looks like he may want to change his name if he ever plans on having a future in games.
To be fair, I wouldn't have expected less from a guy named Murderbeck. If he isn't saying he wants to murder people on a daily basis, I think he wouldn't be living up to his name sake. *rim shot*
Sure, technically. But my statement still stands she hasn't "made" a video game. Using Gary Whitta as an example of technically a game developer is silly, of course he is, they're games rely heavily on narrative and dialog, so any writer is completely a developer.
While I may be a minority here, but as someone who has spent a decade working in "AAA" development, I consider a game developer as a content producer.
So yes, it's a lose term and open for interpretation, but I think my personal definition listed above holds up.
Also a disclaimer: This does not in any way diminish her actual role and achievements, I just don't consider her a developer.
She completely disappeared from public eye since the first Assassin's Creed it feels like. Hopefully she makes something cool post-Ubisoft.
Being involved in development makes you a developer by definition.
For example, Gary Whitta is technically a game developer for his work on Walking Dead. I'm not sure if John Drake would be though. PR is kind of on the outside of that again. I'd try do some other examples, but I am awful with names and pretty much just know the people passing through Giant Bomb. Tim Schafer is a dev. The business guy in the Double Fine documentaries is a dev, cause he throws money and people at stuff to make it develop.
