With Lil Wayne in jail and his mixtapes not up to par lately, a new artist is bound to take the stage. Case in point, Kid Cudi.

This is currently my favorite of his songs/remix (Dan Black's original song is also really good), but there are many more. Check him out.

I liked Day 'n' Night but I haven't heard any other of his songs.

And when was Lil Wayne's stuff ever up to par?

I had never heard Kid Cudi before, although I've heard of him.  After finally listening to him, I have to say...what the fuck was that?  BLECK!

If you want something that should replace Lil' Wayne, it should be Tanya Morgan.

Kid Cudi and Lil Wayne both suck. And saying that Lil Wayne's new mix tapes are not up to par is like saying "this shit stinks twice as much".

Sorry but neither can compare to old rap/hip-hop of the 80s and 90s, and the underground stuff of today.  I can see why they're popular, their music is easy for teens to dance to, but it doesn't have substance that is worthwhile at all in my opinion.  And I had no clue Lil' Wayne was even in jail... what did he do?

Step aside EVERYONE, J. Cole is up.

Just sayin.
And that's the end of that.
@jakob187: But Tanya Morgan is good too.

He doesn't get any respect. Most people think he is lame or he's to deep for people to care about

Kid Cudi's first mixtape or whatever was kinda good. It had a pretty good electro rock and rap mix with some decent songs. But then it got stupid.

What the hell is this? Lil' Wayne has been a joke for a long time, and Kid Cudi is just as much of a joke.

Aesop has been "king" in my mind for a while, but there's a huge selection of rappers who are far superior to the crap that plays on the radio (Cudi and Wayne).

I'm pretty sure Lupe Fiasco is still alive. So yeah, he still has the throne for best new rapper. Even if he's been holding that throne for 5 years.

Guess I will keep listening to Doom and Talib since Lil Wayne is not talented anyways.

Oh, and the new AOTP / JMT album came out a few days ago...so yeah, they're still alive, and still some of the best.

Army of the Pharaohs: The Unholy Terror, worth checking out, though not as good as some of the older JMT stuff.

Not having read anything in this thread I can say that the dudes with MF DOOM and P.O.S. as their avatars are probably right.

Kid Cudi has been around for years, and any one of his songs is at least... *does mental calculations*... 3 times better than anything Lil Wayne's ever done.  And that's not even taking into account how  LW stole the 'man on the moon' concept from Cudi.

If Clipse's next CD sounds more like this, I think they'll be on the right track to ruling hip-hop.

Thats fair, I completly disagree but thats your opinion : )  I do agree about Wale being a great artist. I would love to see him brake into mainstream

What's with the Lil Wayne hate? I will keep and continue to enjoy my Tha Carter trilogy.

Kid Cudi sounded alright. Reminds me of... Bone Thugz kind of? (at least, their slower songs)
Nice beats, though. I am biased toward piano and violin in some good melodies.

Still listening to The Cool by Lupe.

Little Wayne has always been garbage. Kid Cudi is alright. Haven't listened to his stuff much beyond Day and Night. I'm liking Aesop Rock that juke posted on the first page.
