Mom Said that My Shirt Arrived

She just called me, and told me that the Whiskey Media shirt arrived.  Can't wait to frame it or something.  : /  God knows I'm not gonna wear it and ruin it!  Maybe I'll put it on for the shirt picture thread, but that's it!

Super Street Fighter IV and Persona 4

Today I went to the store and bought Super Street Fighter IV, and I need to get a joystick eventually. When I first got to the parking lot there at the store, I was listening to the Persona 4 soundtrack in my car. This is what was playing:

As I was getting out the car, I could see some guy looking over at me. He yelled, "I love Persona 4!" It made me laugh.

Mario Galaxy 2 and SNES Today

Finally got a good, used SNES today.  Man, I've been looking for a while since I sold all my old ones off.  We always get those crappy stained ones, don't we?  It's hard getting all this stuff back, but I'm working on it.  BTW, I picked up SMG2 as well.  Nice.  I'm so glad that I have a job and can splurge on unnecessary gamer stuff from time to time!

GameStop and Deadly Premonition

I try to avoid GameStop whenever possible.  I used to work for the company, and I dislike it.  I'm not opposed to it for its practices; I don't care if they try to sell me a subscription and whatnot.  It's a business, and I understand that.  I dislike it for more personal reasons which aren't important for this blog.  I will probably head over to the local GameStop tomorrow to pick up my copy of Deadly Premonition.

I called another store that trades in games and movies, and the representative told me that he had no copies available.  GameStop told me that they had multiple new copies.  Can't wait to get my hands on it.  I may buy two copies, one for play and one for display.  Actually, I'm pretty sure I'll get two.

April 12, 2010

I received Bioshock 2 in the mail, so I want to get around to playing that; I enjoyed the first game.  Gamefly makes it easy for me to disregard games I wouldn't have bought.  Again, I loved the first Bioshock, but I'm not sure I'd have played the second one.

The next game on my Gamefly account is a Gamecube game; weird, right?  Nah, it's Skies of Arcadia Legends ; that game isn't too weird when you think of all the followers.

Apparently, it's pretty good.

I Want a Key

If anybody out there received a key but isn't that interested in Star Trek Online, I would appreciate it if somebody would PM me with a code.  I have been following this game since it was announced, I'm a member of the forums over at the website, and really wanted a key.  Thanks in advance.

A Free Meal

For the last month or so, my family's restaurant posted that Christmas Eve complimentary meals and such would be provided for the needy locally.  I thought not too much of it regarding that.  I thought that this manifested itself an endearing endeavor for what it's worth; however, it's reassuring in my beliefs that some people will emerge from the walls with an unjustified wanting of  something for free when the apparent necessity isn't warranted.

Throughout the day, we had customers that were obviously in need of our generosity.  We had customers with young children that needed the toys which we provided, and we had customers that were willing to pay; we wouldn't accept their money.   We knew their pride was a force, but ours was stronger.  In the end, they and we smiled in acceptance with a wink.  Merry Christmas.

It's weird a bit that I started to find myself annoyed and cynical with those that I felt took advantage of this offering.  Maybe I was a bit too presumptuous.  In short I think I was right for much of it, but a good deal of positivity came of it eventually.

The two men who were delivering these meals for the elderly, sick, and shut-ins told me of people with Cadillacs and nice houses who felt privileged enough for our offerings.  We still obliged nonetheless.

Delivery guys' last order:  He was a man about whom I knew very little.  One of our patrons told of us him.  She'd donated a great deal of money to our offering and wanted us to consider him even though he was out of our intended area of delivery.  We agreed to send him food.  From what she'd described, he lived in a rundown place with no electricity nor running water.

I'd forgotten about him in the busy day's hectic boxing of food.  When our last delivery for this man was sent, and it was our very last, I'd slightly remembered him.  I'd hoped that he'd be appreciative, because I'd become somewhat jaded at that point.

When the two delivery guys came back, one, 41, and the other, 60, their tale had made it worthwhile.  The 60 year-old said that he'd gone up to the mobile home and knocked on the door a few times.  He'd heard noises inside, but no one came to answer.  He'd knocked again, and by that time the 41 year old guy was honking the horn to come back and leave the place.  This man maybe wasn't home, still noises inside.

A voice came from the back of the house, a man's voice.  The delivery guy circled the trailor to find a worn and rotted back porch.  In the backdoor, a man in dirty, smelly overalls greeted him with a humble smile.  That man didn't know we were coming; he didn't know about the food.

The lady who'd nominated him donated money several days over in hopes that we would send this man something to eat.  The man nearly started to cry, and this 60 year old delivery man of ours of whom I think quite highly admitted that he almost cried also (the other delivery guy cracked a joke about it and almost cried telling it).  The poor man was so appreciative.  In his dirty, smelly overalls he thanked them, and I thank that donating lady for letting us know of this lonely man...and we was just that.

By the way, the woman who donated this money for this man to eat did not want her name to be known; she didn't want any recognition for her generous act.

Persona 4/music/lyrics/thoughts/fun

I might hear some GNR influence in the next one (November Rain specifically).  I wonder where
Shoji Meguro, Atsushi Kitajoh, Ryuta Kozuka got their influences.  Meguro specifically is a cut above.  No lyrics in the next one, but I had to put it on here.  Remember the "final battle"?  It's called The Almighty (the huge eye boss following Adachi's spaz).

...and there is always this next one.

I remember watching the Endurance Run and trying to catch the words.  Of course, with the low sound it was hard to hear, but Youtube has allowed me to recapture these songs with words (like I said, way too much time on my hands).

You may not know this, but there is a pretty big fan base for the P4 music and possibly more interesting is the people that make funny versions of the hard-to-understand lyrics. Here's one of those funny lyrical interpretations of P4 (eh, Vinny?):

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed it, those of you who like the game.  Meanwhile, I'm gonna go listen to some more P4 music.

Now where is that P4 music CD I've been looking for?  Really, I had it here somewhere.

Nintendo Shirt and New Store

Got this cool shirt today.  Japanese and all that.  Also got an Atari shirt today that's pretty awesome.  That's for a later post.

Funny thing is is that this new store opened near me that carries a lot of the older stuff, paraphernalia-wise.  I asked the dude on duty if he had some Neo Geo stuff.  He said that he didn't, but  I'm totally on the list for the merchandise if it comes in.

Can't wait for something great to come in.  In 2003, I traded in all my old video game stuff for money.  It's amazing what a desperate person will do for electricity bills.  Long story short, I have tried for several years now to rebuild my old collection after selling it all for a few hundred bucks.

It's nice to know that I got another NES ((completely with new inside parts (refurbished)) with some awesome games.  I had Star Tropics, Metroid, all the usual suspects.

It was his last system in store.  Couldn't believe my luck.  Now I'm on the list to get an SNES if it comes in.  I also asked him about a TG-16 and other systems.  I want those back as well.  Have to get back to owning all of the lesser known ones.

Pretty much, I'm grateful that a mom and pop store like this opened up in my county.  BTW, a Game Stop opened two years earlier two doors down from this store.  I wonder how this small business will succeed next to that.
