I'm about 5 hours or so in and Im sitting over here shaking my head like a mad man about the, "hey look at my low score guize" bs. A few minor bugs here and there, on an xbox one X usb 3.0 4tb and it runs pretty damn smooth for a game that looks so damn good. Reviewing a game before it has release patches is borderline journalistic blasphemy.
I've been wowed by this game so many times in the first 5 hours that I'm ready to stamp goty on it, and Im not really even into Star Wars. Smooth animations, jaw dropping graphics, and engaging story in all regards. If you're a Star Wars fan or just a fan of amazing games do yourself a favor and disregard the attempt at journalism that has taken place here. 9.6/10
Brad Shoemaker's reputation is unassailable, you clown. I'm sorry that the above average review score hurt your feelings.
The copy of the game GB (and most other places) reviews is the copy of the game that the publisher says is the version to review. If that game needs a day one patch to not suck then they need to hold back review copies until it's ready, or get their shit together and release a completed version at launch.
@demonsoul: Metacritic is aggregating 35 reviews right now. One 60/100 score isn't going to drop it 8 points.
I am playing on PC though and it's working fine for me. There are one or two areas out in the open where the frame rate drops noticeably for a few moments. I still have a really good PC though and I might just be brute forcing some of the worse frame rate drops.
I'm not always enamored with every jump having to be a nail biting near miss and the vine grabbing and swinging mechanics are a can of ass, but I would give it 4 stars.
One more thing: This game is in deep need of a character creator with gender and race options. Generic McWhiteguy is boring the hell out of me. It's not like he is some meaningful addition to the Star Wars Universe. Let us play as who we want.
All I want from a Just Cause game is character creation and seamless online multiplayer, and most importantly, no more Rico! Why do the devs think people like playing as this generic 1990's stereotypically voiced character?
I am in the same boat. Easily the lamest protagonist among a list of really bad video game protagonists. Literally anyone could be shoehorned into the game so why not let the players choose who? Probably rhetorical anyway since the odds of another Just Cause game are pretty low.
