Best Games of 2010

It has been an incredible year for games yet again.

List items

  • An exceptional universe with an awesome story and well formed, likable characters. ME2 makes your decisions impact the survival of your crew. All the games here excel at one or two things but ME2 is extraordinary at everything you want from a videogame.

  • Pure fun in game form. Its the better sequel to what was the best 3D platformer of all time.

  • Dont like the ridiculous story? Then enjoy yourself in the most deep and satisfying combat ever in an action game. The word epic does not even begin to describe what you go through in this game.

  • The best game to come out of the creators of the Grand Theft Auto series. A wild west masterpiece.

  • For the person that wants a better, more deep modern warfare experience.

  • The only music game needed. The best party game available. Rock Band 3 has 85 songs and a library of over 2000 as DLC making it the most complete music gamer ever.

  • More than a expansion to the original, Brotherhood is a spit polished ACII with innovative multiplayer and an intriguing story.

  • Im not even a fan of RTS games but SCII consumed me with its fantastic campaign and it deep and most importantly, accessible gameplay.

  • The best and most complete Halo experience.

  • Pac Man Reborn the right way with an emphasis on scoring rather than surviving. You eat so many ghosts!

  • SNES nostalgia done right. Pleasing to the eye, minimal story and a challenging difficulty curve.

  • A game for everyone. Civ V will consume your life as you play God of your society of choice.

  • The most jaw dropping GOW yet. You thing that by the course of two games things cant get more epic but the third proves those assumptions wrong.

  • When a game actually does some things better than its direct inspiration, The Legend of Zelda, you have a memorable and all around great game.

  • This reinvention of the series makes stealth more accessible while turning it into a Bourne movie.

  • Following the God of War was the best thing that happened to this series since it turned into Metroid. Make sure you stick around for the extraordinary conclusion.

  • Achieve zombie killing nirvana in the most ridiculous way possible. DR2 is fucked up in such a japanese way it would be criminal to say its just not plain fun.

  • Combining Tower Defense and team deathmatch with various character classes makes for a surprisingly fun game.

  • Insanely difficult and strangely addicting. This games is an amazing platformer influenced by the 8-bit era.

  • Even though it has clunky controls and some undercooked gameplay mechanics, Enslaved is a memorable and fun adventure with an amazing set of protagonists.

  • Its tutorial may last 20 hours but FFXII is a great JRPG with the best battle system in the series.

  • The best fighting game available on next gen consoles gets more characters and special moves. It may be just an expansion but its a great one.

  • A puzzle platformer drenched in atmosphere. Limbo captivated me with its visual and sound design. It maybe short but its a memorable experience.

  • The most intense and fun racing game since Burnout Paradise. Be a cop o be a speed junkie criminal, Hot Pursuit handles driving expertly and looks phenomenal. Top this with an robust online play and support and this is without a doubt the best racing game of the year.

  • The best story in a Call of Duty game. Its intense and just with a sense of ridiculousness to make it highly enjoyable. The multiplayer is more Call of Duty, which personally I already enjoyed and got sick of in Modern Warfare 2.

  • What sets Heavy Rain apart is consequence. You actions determine the outcome of the case of the origami killer and everyones survival.

  • The sequel to The Sands of Time is an enjoyable ride that makes use of the powers of time and nature in interesting ways.

  • The sequel will forever live in the massive shadow of the original but its still a great experience with better gameplay mechanics.

  • Its a shame that an expertly narrated story and one of the best places Ive been sucked into this year was spoiled by stupid collectables, too much repetitive combat and the most annoying sidekick in recent memory. Its still worth playing but it could have been a classic.

  • An old school platformer with fantastic music. The twist here is that the jump is replaced by changing the gravity to stick to the ceiling.
