I’m not saying it’s much more than a fun Blackjack game with retro window dressing, but for the price, it’s damn fun, and so far most of the humor has landed pretty well.

Loving the little bit I’ve played so far. I believe it was Polygon who described it as “Overwatch meets a racing game” and that’s been pretty spot-on so far.

Looks really cool, and I have yet to watch UPF this week even. I just loved Dust and liked what the crew had to say about it on the Bombcast. Day one for sure. Wish it was up already, but I checked. No dice.

Willing to bet that we see at least KOS-MOS as DLC once enough people get frusrated at not being able to unlock her. I mean, hell, I’d love to have her as a blade too. Xenosaga rips!

@shades846: I’m sure they’ll get around to it. My guess is they’re just trying to get all the GOTY stuff done while all the Beast folks are still in SF.

Did kinda think someone might have played some on UPF, but it was naturally more multiplayer focused.

@ricobanderas: I totally agree that Nia comes across better in Japanese. Other than that though, as I’ve said, I think most of the English cast, with their multiple UK and EU accents, are totally on point, with Rex and Pyra being paticular standouts for me.

I dunno though. I’ve always been a dub guy when it comes to Anime as well. “Regular” movies and such, I vastly prefer subtitles, but games and cartoons, not so much =/

Tiger! Tiger! Is also my one standout annoying system/mechanic. It’s just not very fun, and to boot, I’m absolutely ASS as it, hrheh.

@ultimategamer69: I never took it that way. At the most sinister, maybe the OP was mocking the fact that there’s vitually no way one of “these” games would compete for GOTY on GB, but I took it as just genuine, if not hyperbolic love and appreciation for the game.

The game is very likely to make my GB Top 10 this year, but I dunno. In any “normal” year, a AAA JRPG of this quality would be a shoe-in, but damn, what a year it’s been! Since I know you’re shaking with anticipation, keep your eyes on my profile to see where, if anywhere, it lands, heheh.

@pompouspizza: An odd question indeed. Depends on where you’re coming from. You say you don’t play many JRPGs? Is it because you don’t like them in general, or just never got around to many. Because this is a J-mother-grabbin’-R-P-G, with zero apologies for you. If it’s been a genre that turned you off in the past, I HIGHLY doubt this is the one that will win you over. Incidentally, if you are searching for such a game, may I direct you to the Persona section? Might I recommend starting with 4 or 5?

If you’re just asking if you need any experience or knowledge of the series, then no, not really. Like FF, or most JRPGs really, there’s no story or character continunity to worry about. Sure, there’s persistent themes that CAN make parts pop or easier to grasp, but that’s it. Good a place to start as any, though if you’re a dyed-in-the-wool Nintendo fanboy, which is to say you actually have a Wii U, then I’d start with XCX, followed by the first XC. Both are in the eShop, and they even patched XC so you don’t have to use the original Wii controls, which were butt.

Lastly, if you’re iust an open minded soul looking for a great, long, engaging adventure for your shiny new Switch, you could certainly do worse. I’m loving it to pieces right now, but keeping in mind this is the kind of game I live for, heh. Depending on what you have or have tried, there is already a PILE of amazing games which may interest you more. Just depends.

In addition to the tl;dr, I’ll just add THIS GAME KICKS ALL THE DICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ripelivejam: Oh, they’re still there, kinda like Mogs or Chocobos in a FF game, but no one has joked about eating them a-la X. Maybe it’s because they’re much furrier in this outing?
