@blackichigo: I certainly get that you don’t like the English VO. That obviously seems to have formed as the majority opinion (I don’t mind/occasionally really enjoy it FWIW), but for the record, Rex has a pretty straight-forward Manchester accent.

I hardly think the actor is even making a choice, let alone a mistake. That’s likely just how he talks. One of the things I’ve really enjoyed about the series in the “Chronicles” era is how they have been, or at least seem to have been, localized with a more British/European bent. I know I’m weird, but I find it refreshing to hear some non-North American accents on characters other than villains, heheh.

I also genuinely like Pyra a lot. Her actor is really nailing it so far IMO.

I like the character and weapon design myself, and I find the combat system to be a nice itteration/refinement of the “typical” XB combat engine. Not too much to take in all at once, but can be as deep as you like, if you wanna spend the time.

To put to rest the most pressing topic in this thread though, I’m about 5 hours in and can confirm without qualification that Pyra’s chest proportions are ABSURDLY out of control for a normal human, but only mildly oversized for an Anime character, heh.

@oursin_360: By my definition, yeah, it is. Not suggesting I’m right or wrong, but I’ve never understood it as an indication of quality, meerly a game with a lot of marketing and a significant budget.

As Jeff’s often fond of pointing out, with large publishers becoming so risk-averse, and most indies still too small to provide them, the traditional “B” games we used to see are all but extinct.

Yeah, sadly, if we expect more wacky, JRPG coverage, someone/thing is going to have to miracle Austin back to the crew.

Or they could hire someone new to fill that gap I suppose. I’m not busy currently, heheh. In all seiousness though, while I don’t doubt Jeff would probably like a bit more on-screen talent, maybe two people, they’ve had a pretty damn good year as it is, and it’s generally easier on the GB community to have a little time to adjust to new folks. Still waiting to see how much Jan ends up on QLs and/or UPF.

Yeah, there’s vitually no way a AAA game from a major publisher wouldn’t get a QL. As for a review, that seems a far more individual and selective process, and while I usually enjoy them, between the QL and numerous podcasts, you can usually get a pretty good idea of where the staff is on a game.

@valrik: as far as I've seen, the glowing icon usually indicates a chip-in. Not sure if that's 100%, but it's what I've seen every time i've had one.

Grindy for sure, but that's true of about every modern Hot Shots game. You really have to enjoy the actual playing of it to get the most out of it. Definitely not like an EA golf game where you're seemingly always making progress.
