Gonna chime in here too in case you miss my tweets, @austin_walker (I'm iiotenki/Tom on Twitter!), but regarding the terminology ambiguity in your update, after skimming the original Nikkei piece and Nintendo's response in Japanese, only Business Insider's translation makes sense to me. In isolation, the term that's causing the difference between their translation and Kotaku's, 来期, can actually be translated both ways depending on context, but given that the original article discussed production ceasing this year and the way Nintendo's response is worded, I'm pretty confident that the Nintendo statement is meant to say that Wii U production will continue into at least into next fiscal year, too. I haven't finished the QL yet, but just to add to the conversation about the fanservice being pretty lazy in this game, this sign in the background mashes part of the series Japanese title with 電氣, a word that in this instance would be something you'd see in the name of an electrical company of some sort... only the part of the title they use is completely nonsensical in this context. I mean, obviously a joke, but this isn't even low hanging fruit; this is fruit that was already on the ground that they picked up and didn't even bother to polish with their sleeve or something before eating.
In case you had any doubts, Jeff wasn't lying when he said Sofmap put out a rap version of their theme song. I tracked it down on the Japanese Internet and ripped it to YouTube. It's... It's a thing.
