You are real dumb the problem is with pricing not the analogy. Rent that car for 25 grand then come back and talk to me. Are you not willing to do that? Now you answered your own question.
And don't give me that licencing is better crap some cars hold there value better than others. So either way you loose money with nothing to show for your investment.
To put it simply, you're all busy sucking valves cock and attacking the analogy than dealing with the real problem. How can they charge the same price for renting that others charge for buying. And then they have the nerve to say they can take those games from you for any reason. Protect valve all you want. Ask anyone on the street if that's ok or not and they will say you are crazy. You don't rent things for the same price as it would cost to buy something. That's why games don't cost 60 dollars to rent. That's why blu rays don't cost 15 or 30 dollars to rent it's just stupid and bad business. Protect valve all you won't its just wrong.
No, I just decided not to post in this thread anymore because it's readily apparent that you have no intention of discussing anything with anyone or accepting anyone else's viewpoint; you're only interested in jumping down the throat of anyone who disagrees with you. It isn't worth my time.
You are still running and didn't answer. How is that right and how is charging the same price ok?
Valves TOS for Steam states you can not do a class action suit (which is similar to every online game service), you can still sue them yourself.
What steam TOS did was totally different. Sony let you send in a letter to opt out of that option and you could still play online and keep your games. Microsoft just disables xbox live but you can keep and play your single player games EA did the same. Steam takes your games online and offline your games are worthless bricks now you have no access all your money is wasted
And your running from the point its just wrong to rent things for the same price as buying them. Who would take time to buy anything if the previous owner can just take it away at anytime they wish. I guess you guys would rent a movie for 15 or 30 dollars instead of actually buying the stupid disk. If you have that type of money to throw away good for you. But you don't spend thousands of dollars on anything and just let someone take it from you.
Yes they know what licencing is . But clicking OK isn't really a contract is it ? What if that person is under 18 that crap is illegal minors cant enter contracts All types of crap can come up in their crazy contracts that they can change at any time. These TOS are very broad and cover all types of crap. Alot of time when they are challenged they don't hold up in court. It's even said that people who agreed with the new TOS can still sue them. In alot of countries they can still sue because what valve did wasn't legal.
What valve is betting on is that a 10 dollar game isnt worth getting a high priced attorney to sue them. But it all depends on who you piss off. A person with enough money may go after them. That's why they want class action lawsuites gone. Because no one can sue over being screwed over a 10 dollar game. But alot of people working with a few lawyers can make valve give everyone a refund.
Having retail is totally different for offline mode that is. People can cut off your online access but cutting off you from your games completely offline, online and cancel your CD-key is unprecedented. Steam is the only company thats gone this far. Even if you get a ban you could use your cd key to unlock the single player part of your game at least. Alot of games dont require you to be online to register your game. You enter your CD-key offline and the game unlocks. But steam games suck because the way the service is set up. I have games right now from 1995 i enter my key and it unlocks i dont need to be online. Hell im not sure if my area even had online back then.
Explain how? If your stupid enough to rent something for the same price to buy it's your own fault when they come and take it from you. I know people right now who have rented a house for 30 years who have just got kicked out on their asses, now their homeless. Wouldn't they have been better served if they were buying that house all this time. At least they would have a house to show for it, at least they wouldn't be cold, at least they wouldn't be out in the rain with no where to go.
But maybe you guys are just young and don't know how important it is to own things. Renting is a temporary measure you shouldn't get dependent on it because its a dead end and you don't get anything in return its money down the drain. Having a item, car, house, or whatever is a huge bonus because that extra money that's not going out each month. I just bought my first house and its a big improvement from paying rent each month believe that.
It's interesting that people are spending their time shooting down the analogy than actually going after the real problem, which is the inevitable future when all of our digitally obtained games are lost forever, regardless of how much money we sank into them.
Thats a good point man. Alot of these companies dont even wont you to make a backup disk for your games. That's why i like Gog.com their non DRM policy is great alot of people will and do abuse it but i love it. My game is on my hard drive or on my removable drive. Those witcher games are mine and no one can take them from me. Its not on some encrypted file that valve can just take from me. The whole game and installer is in a little folder tucked away for the future.
Ok smarty then why even sale digital games? Why just not rent them? Why? its obvious, renting doesn't sell as well it's a purposeful and misleading act so they deserve to get sued.
