Im honestly kinda upset Gerstmann wasnt on this episode(not to discredit Voidburger! Jess did great!), if only because he was my introduction to Fieldy's Dreams and i will never ever forgive him for that. I cant remember which one of the drives he listened to that album on but i've never been able to erase the thought of Fieldy's Dreams from my mind.
You cant deflect by saying "oh the first song is about bedtime" as it pertains to how serious people should take the lyrics when the reality is that James wrote a reference to crib death and Bob Rock told him to change it. It might not have been the intention of the band, but James 100 percent wanted people to think of him as a bit more intelligent than the average rock/metal guy, and that is 100 percent shown later in his career with St Anger. All that shit like "my lifestyle determines my deathstyle" and the whole concept of there being a "Saint Of Anger" reeks of a metal guy trying too hard to be poetic and "intelligent" imo.
Rancid are definitely a pop punk band. It's not about what kind of music you play, it's about dating a 15 year-old when you're 30.
Exactly! its about grooming a young girl from another country, bringing her to the states(not until after she turns 18 of course), signing her band to your label, getting married *the year* after she turns 18, potentially dropping her band when you break up, threatening the male members of her band with getting blacklisted, etc, etc, etc.
I hate being this guy, because in a lot of cases im all for the evolution of language and things of that nature, but the way we as a social society take words and try to turn them into catch-alls colloquially is very annoying. It happens all the time, now "Gaslighting" is just becoming internet lingo for "lying to someone". Which in essence is true, as gaslighting will most likely consist of a lot of lying(but is a lot more deep than "just lying"), but not all lying is gaslighting.
Since he was brought up this ep: Fun Fact! Jonathan Frakes played trombone on a Phish interlude called "Riker's Mailbox" that i am sure they only did just to have him on an album. Its not even a song, just a sound collage of bullshit like backwards vocals and Frakes just GOING HAM on his trombone.
As someone who was around for the Uno/New Legacy charity stream I can 100 percent believe that Mrs Uno likes to run over pedestrians in GTA to destress.
Jeff Kinda missed the analogy on the gaming as a processed food answer imo, to me the clear answer to "if Far Cry is processed food what is healthy food?" is clearly Gone Home or Firewatch. They are pleasant satisfying experiences that hit all the proper bits of gaming, but a lot of people dont like because they are not "junk food" enough.
