This week is nuts...

My gaming plate is full. Not only is it full, but my larder for replenishing said plate is full to the brim too. I'm spoilt for choice over what games I can play right now. I own each and every modern platform, and my PC is a recent self build which will handle any game I can throw at it. Great, huh? Well, there are only so many hours in the day that I can dedicate to gaming, and when weeks like this one come along, it just doesn't help matters;

Final Fantasy XIV
This arrived Wednesday, and whilst it's been getting a fair bit of flack from the Giant Bomb community alone, I'm certainly determined to give it a decent chance. I liked what I saw in the beta, and they've already addressed several issues from that - hardware mouse, increased level cap, less time between guildleves. I've managed to install it, patch it, create a character and choose a server, but that's about it. My playtime is measured in a few meagre minutes.

Civilization V
The US got to see this earlier on in the week, so I've been seeing nothing but praise as the days tick by. I've been a fan of the series since the original game, and whilst I haven't always played it a great deal, it's always been fun when I've got around to it. Had some epic play by email games against one of my friends too, so the arrival of this makes me win our previous Civ IV game by default, and means I can get a new turn sent off to him before he knows what's hit him.

Dead Rising 2
This is due to arrive today thanks to Amazon. I loved Case Zero, and was often frustrated by the original Dead Rising, so this is bound to make it into my console this weekend, as opposed to joining the ranks of the uplayed.

Guitar Hero 6
Yeah, I'm a plastic guitar nut too. I'm a pretty shitty player though, can barely venture above medium, but I still like it. Don't play as much as I used to, but that doesn't stop me jumping on the bandwagon with every new iteration of the franchise.

Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg. I have yet to look at any of this weeks XBLA releases, let alone last weeks ones. I'm still churning through Halo: Reach, and I've got 3 game rentals from LoveFilm sat on the floor next to me too.

I suppose I'd better get my arse into gear and get something finished, huh? Time to play whilst listening out for the postman and the courier vans, and avoiding falling to sleep due to getting to bed late. Yum...

I gave up FFXIV. After beta I can't get more then 20 fps cause they gimped 3rd party crossfire support (used Radeon Pro tool)

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8Ghz
2x HD 5770 1 GB Xtreme Edition
8 GB Ram
Win7 x64

Returned my unopened copy and got full refund.

I picked up  Civilization V on steam and I really like the changes.

Next month going to be awesome.

Fallout New Vegas and Gothic 4 (the demo was solid), and Two Worlds 2 (edit: seems only ps3 version got delayed)

Certainly existing time to be gamer.

Sorry to hear you've given up on FFXIV, and it's odd that you suffer from such performance issues - my girlfriends PC is AMD-based, and with a Phenom 720, 4GB RAM and a 4870 everything runs just fine, with everything running at stock speeds. I've seen numerous people with a variety of performance problems on hardware it should run just fine on.

Fallout: New Vegas is going to be amazing, already got my collectors edition ordered! Gothic 4 seemed okay actually, played the demo last night.
