I'm gonna echo others and say money. I first subbed with 2012's Thanksgiving day sale and my sub ran out JUST in the middle of the college year where money doesn't exist, and ramen runs through your veins. The Mother's Day sale was a good way for me to pick up a sub again.

The Double Fine Happy Action Theatre Quick Look DX with Patrick in that Hot Dog suit. A bunch of people I follow on twitter were fans of the site and I had heard of it before but never thought to check it out. I wanna say Double Fine tweeted something along the lines of "We are doing something really dumb with Giant Bomb live!" and I clicked through.

Saw bits and pieces of the trailer on the internet over a few years, and 3 or so years ago saw it at my local library. I HAD to check it out to see how bad it was. Absolute garbage.
