Minecraft meet-up in Peterborough described as 'awful'
14 September 2015
Parents of Minecraft gamers are angry at the absence of activities and the long lines at an unofficial convention.
On the Saturday, about 4,100 people were at MineVention at Peterborough Arena to meet stars and take part in games.
However, a lot of people have said they waited for hours to see idols and eat meals, and are demanding refunds.
Lisa O'Brien, the organizer, stated that the queues were too long and she will issue a statement on refunds within the timeframe.
The event, which is not associated with or endorsed by Minecraft developer Mojang began in Ireland, and this was the first time it took place in the UK.

It offered players of the global gaming sensation Minecraft where players create a host of objects using cubic blocks - the chance to meet the world's most famous "Youtubers" and take photos and play games.

The event was hosted by Jason Bradbury, TV's Gadget Show host, and urged viewers to dress up as Steve the game's protagonist, to attempt a world record.
However, it was criticized on social media for the long lines, the absence of food and merchandise stalls and other issues.
Vicky Abraham shared on Facebook that she waited with her son of five years for more than an hour just 30 seconds on a computer.
Another parent claimed she waited 45 minutes to buy an ice-cold bottle and said the experience was "appalling" with "naff-all to do". Another person contacted the BBC to inform them that they were able to leave after about half an hour because the lines were so long, and her son was "crying throughout the journey home".
Some people posted on Facebook that they were happy with the event, one of them wrote: "I thought your event was great for PS15."
Lisa O'Brien of O'Brien Event Management said she felt with parents as we all have children. She said the queues were 45 minutes too long due to the number of people who showed up on the day instead of purchasing tickets in advance.
She said that the convention was unprecedented in scale and that some official items were not delivered in time for it to take place.
She said that organisers had "taken all feedback and suggestions" and would be meeting to determine what went wrong, adding that a new announcement would be made on Monday evening.
