I play (almost) every game out of the gate on the hardest setting. There's something really satisfying about overcoming a really difficult challenge like that. Usually, part-way through a game on the highest difficulty, I get so used to it being hard that it becomes decidedly less hard.
Granted, if the gameplay is broken and I just want to see the story, I'll bump it down to easy.
The ONLY reason I could think of would be that it needed to show her absolute, complete lack of technological skill so Doug seemed more important and made the choice of which to save harder. But you're right, it was stupid and it seemed like "Dumb hot chick doesn't know how to put batteries in" type of a deal.
I lied to Herschel at first, but when he called me out on it in the barn, I told him the truth. It counted as me being honest.
I saved Duck. I thought by saving him I could try and move the tractor. Either way, he was easier to save and he was a child.
I sided with Kenny. The dialogue choices here weren't very clear, so I have no idea what I was saying. Fortunately, I wanted to side with Kenny and that's what it registered as.
I gave Irene the gun. Like everybody said, she was bit and screwed.
I saved Carley. I knew this wouldn't happen, but I had hoped that by saving Carley, she'd shoot the zombies taking Doug. Either way, I'd rather have a shooter on my team.
I feel he's dead. It was an extremely dramatic scene at the end and if they had him still be alive in the next game it would completely ruin the ending of this one. There are plenty of villains to choose from. You don't need the Joker in every single one.
I'm just going to throw this out there: The 3DS/Vita will not be the last dedicated gaming handhelds.
It's obviously speculation, but like you said, the 3DS is gaining momentum, and until there is a colossal failure with a handheld, there will always be more. I think the next wave of them (five or six years from now) will be vastly different. Perhaps they'll have a subscription model. It will probably be a lot like the phones we have now, but with dedicated controls and such. But I don't think there's any way in hell that this is the last handheld generation.
