Thronebreaker is legitimately a great game. CDPR contextualized Gwent in an enthralling way. It beats out many games in terms of world-building and storytelling and it's a goddamn card game!
Great list Ben! I like the surprise subcategories you put. I might have to finally watch Parasite after so many people hyped it up for me. I agree that 2014 is the weakest year of the decades but 2011 should not be that low on the list but I respect the courage and effort to rank the years.
Great list Dan! This might be a sign that Outer Wilds will win it all this year as Mr. Funches had predicted.
As a side note, I’m so jealous of all the people having the time of their lives playing Outer Wilds. I feel like I’m missing out on something special right under my nose. I am not big on aimless, freeform objectives on games so I’m tempted to read a walkthrough for this game just to see how I can progress further (I’m roughly 3 hours in) but I know it’ll destroy the sense of discovery which is the point of this game.
