Which games should I buy?

Alright, now I'm sure everyone has heard this question numerous times and you're all probably sick of hearing it but I'm having a problem deciding what game I want to purchase. I've come upon a large amount of money as a gift from both of my aunts and my parents (I'm talking a cumulative amount of about $700 here) and probably going to put most of it in a savings or checking account. However, I also got a $100 Amazon gift card that I want to use immediately.

With gaming being my main hobby, my first thought was to go on Amazon and look some new releases and see what I was most interested in. This led me to the dilemma I am in now. I have absolutely no idea which game I want to buy. I thought you kind folks here at GiantBomb would be willing to help me out here. Below I have made a list of the games I've considered and why I might buy them or might not.

Halo: Reach
This was the first game that came to mind because of all the press it's been getting and I've also given the beta a few runs to see what it was like. I'm getting a little tired of Halo though. I own every game with Halo in the title that has been released and would really like to try something new. It would take a lot of convincing for me to get this one.

Red Dead Redemption
I've heard tons of people on the forums saying they were having a blast with this game and after reading a piece in my GameInformer about it, it really piqued my interest. I've never really played a Western game before and this seems to be a GTA type deal and I love the GTA series. This remains a strong possibility.

Heavy Rain
Lately I've been feeling like it's past time to start giving my PS3 more love. Heavy Rain is a game that has interested me ever since it was in development stage and I really like how different it is from all the games being released nowadays.

God of War III
I'm a huge God of War fan but I'm hearing mixed opinions on God of War III. That is, whenever I actually do listen to any talk concerning the game. I've completely ignored everything because I want to go into the game knowing very little about how it will play out.

Gears of War III
This one doesn't release in awhile but I figured I could pre-order it or something and then wait for it to release. I liked both of the previous games and I really want to see what happens in this one. I really like the multi-player too. I read a piece about it in GameInformer recently and thought it sounded really awesome.

So those are the games I'm looking the most at so far. You definitely don't have to suggest one of those four however. I heard about Call of Duty: Black Ops but I definitely won't be spending money on that. Didn't like Modern Warfare 2 all that much. Overall, I'm looking for a different experience that is rare in this age of gaming. You can also suggest old games that you loved that I may not have played yet.

Thanks I'll see you fools later.

I personally really wish I had some spare cash to get RDR right now. The game looks really awesome. Although, I'm also really interested in Halo: Reach. I feel like I will probably buy that when it comes out considering it is going to be the "last' Halo game.

If you like GTA, the best option is really RDR.

It's going to be the last made by Bungie, not the last of the Halo.

Gears Of War 3 isn't due to hit until April 2011 so I don't think its even worth considering at this point in time. Wait until E3 when more information has been released I guess.

Heavy rain and RDR are both awesome, though Heavy Rain is very linear and has almost no replayability. If you want to clock some decent hours with a game then RDR is probably a better choice, but if you want to try something new then Heavy Rain is completely awesome.

RDR is basically GTA4 in the desert so if you like that kind of gameplay structure then it's probably a solid choice. Heavy Rain is almost the opposite but it's still a lot of fun to experience. I'd reccomend you try one of those.

@RedneckedCrake:  Out of those you can actually acquire now, RDR and Heavy Rain are the best picks. Heavy Rain is unique and moving, and RDR promises to be a great game and solid value-for-money. Either way you win.

@Sweep: Thanks I'm leaning toward RDR right now for my PS3. Gotta give that box some love since I've only been playing 360 lately.

Being the last made by Bungie, it'll probably be the last Halo actually worth buying. Halo Wars wasn't good at all and it was made by Ensemble.

Heavy Rain, the game is a very unique experience and the story is fantastic. The game also offers heaps on replayability since there are a stack of different endings and how the game turns out is all up to you, want to let your child starve and turn the T.V off on him and let him fail at school? do it, it is awesome.

However, you will not be disappointed by either this or Red Dead Redemption.

But promise me one thing, you ill play both.

Out of that list, RDR.
I'm having a bit of trouble myself; I subscribe to gamestop spam and every once in a while they drop some nice deals. I'm getting free 2 day shipping on my order of the Fallout New Vegas collector's edition, but I also get 15% off any title $20 or more if I buy 2 games, so looking for one more right now.

Gears of War 3 is ages off so don't count it a consideration. Of the rest of that list I would go with Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain is great but it's linear and doesn't have re playability which is important if you are looking to make your dollar go further when you can choose only one game.

Thanks for all suggestions. I've now decided to make Red Dead one of my purchases but I'm not sure which console. I need to give some love to my PS3 but I'm thinking I could get Red Dead for my 360 and then another game for PS3 (like Heavy Rain or GoW III).

Gears 3 doesn't come out for a while so that could wait, not halo, heavy rain's a rent, haven't played rdr but I want to soon, and god of war 3s a great game so I'd say if you were to get one now its between rdr and god of war 3.

You should play Heavy Rain, it's completely different from anything else. It's only 8 hours with no replayability though so renting it's probably a good idea. I would recommend buying RDR on 360, it apparently looks a bit better on the xbox.
