You should be able to back-up your current save to a storage device (like a memory card), delete and create a new game to complete all the trophies, then delete that one and copy your old save back. The trophies themselves aren't thay difficult and most can be done in one evening. It's the license trophies which are time consuming.

It would be nice if the update went live on the west coast already.

I tried a couple times to write something sensible but I'm pretty pissed. What I can say is this has damaged my opinion of Criterion. Mostly because they said trophies would be retroactive and not to worry, keep playing. Then the day of they "mention" they tried but they're not. Had they not said anything about retro-trophies to begin with this would be a non-issue.

Is the patch for ALL PS3 trophies, or just the Burnout Paradise ones?"
Just Burnout Paradise."
Oh, wow.
Do all of the other games already have trophies in them, or are patches in the works for them as well?"
Check out http://www.ps3fanboy.com/trophies for a fairly update to date list.

I'm really quite pleased with the update but I do have three criticisms. The update feels unpolished and rushed, unlike Cagney which brought some much needed energy to the game back in July. Another is lack of variety in motrocycle content. I'm not expecting anything vast or deep, but the ability to create online races should have been available. Why it's not is probably connected to my first criticism. Lastly, the content lacks challenge. The timed challanges Cagney brought to BP could be challenging at the time and they make the content in Burnout Bikes (Burning/Midnight Rides and timed challenges) seem like they were designed for people who had never played BP before. Luckily Criterion is a devloper with a long memory and good work ethic, I'm sure complaints will be resolved and suggestions implemented down the line.

Criterion has hinted at new content for motorcycles in the island update, not to mention this "secret update" they said would be coming sooner than we think. So we'll see what they do, but I'm not disappointed with Burnout Bikes. I just cannot ignore the gaping holes where ideas could have easily been put and the rushed feel. I guess it's more questions than complaints at this point, but I am happy with it. I can tell you one thing for certain, after spending 18 hours with the motrocycles I found it very difficult to go back to cars.

The most challenging aspect of the game is learning the city and once you have a grasp of where you're going without needing the map, Burnout Paradise becomes rather easy. Criterion has on many occasions suggested, encouraged and outright said exploration is a huge part of BP. In my opinion, grab a map from the Internet with all the billboards, smash gates and super jumps marked on it , then work on completing each. You'll get a trio of awesome carbon cars and gain solid bearings for the city. I honestly do not think Criterion would do anything to waters down or cut at the exploration element to any degree. That's just me though.

I second that, STALKER is a good choice. Especially with  the price one can purchase it from Steam. And hit Company of Heroes if you haven't yet.

Buying a console for one game is retarded. Period. If that means 360 owners decide to buy that version (instead of getting a PS3 for the game) more power to them. If Final Fantasy 13 had gone 360 exclusive the situation would be a lot different. The biggest downfall for PS3 owners is a NA/Euro release will likely be held up to complete the 360 version, which if I'm not mistaken is planned to enter production when the NA PS3 version begins its localization process. What I'm more curious about is how many people actually believe FF13 will release before the 360's successor does. Come on, you know it is a possibility.

I'm one of those people that believe in a one platform industry. The more people that get to enjoy awesome games the better. As soon as those fucking companies get it the better we'll all be. Though as I've already said, the only downfall for PS3 owners will be having to wait longer because a new version needs completing before release. That's kind of bawlz though since so many other third party companies don't hold back 360 development for the PS3, but Microsoft nor Sony are to blame for that... in most cases.
