I think Star Wars going free to play is a competitive move. With WoW showing its age and obviously that it's running out of ideas with its most recent addition of combat pandas as player characters, there is definitely room for someone to step in.I think they're setting a new precedence and I think with a high profile a expansion at the right time they could convert a lot of people.

And I personally appreciate an MMO that I can play and not have to dedicate entire days to it to make progress.

I'll be playing the entire game single player simply because my schedule will allow for only sporadic play and none of my friends are all that interested in the series.

This news about Leon's story sounds great though, but I feel like the 2nd person in the game, AI controller or controlled by another person, takes away some of the creep factor, especially if the AI is as brain dead as it was in the RE5.

@Yummylee: It doesn't make sense to have that game on a nintendo console considering the game it would lead into wouldn't be appearing anytime soon on one of their consoles. If anything it seems it would be on the Vita ...or maybe a facebook game. lol

Anyway, does anyone know what kind of gimmick the game will have? I found the treasure/upgrade and mission bullshit of RE5 to be boring. I enjoyed though the gun powder in RE3, Attache case and stranger in RE4.

I understand the OP's sentiment. I feel that way about MMORPGs. The story in those games are absolute bunk, and so the goal is only ever to beat the most powerful monsters and get the best gear, but then when you have the best gear...what? Personally I take no solace in being able to say "Look at the gear my dude has, and I was the first one to get it." To each his own though, it's the journey that makes it fun, not the end result. The only exception I make with Diablo is that it's not subscription based.

I used to play FFXI and I have great memories playing that with my friends, making that first trek to Jeuno, when you can't ride a chocobo but have to go through areas with monsters that are too strong for you fight, getting with a really good party that's able to pull two monsters at once.

Now I just tend to look for more narrative driven games for my entertainment, or Battlefield 3, as I just don't have time or the desire to work so hard at a game.

Meh. If you go into it expecting extremely par third person shooter action it's hard to be too disappointed. The game is really just extremely average, and I wish I wouldn't have paid 60-fucking-dollars for it because it's going to be 30 in about 2 weeks. The lack of local co-op is really disappointing too because this game's online is going to be dead in 3-2-1...yup, it's donzo!

The lack of a combat roll is lame, the specops enemies take too many fucking hits to kill, and finally, the amount of DLC already available for the game is disturbing. Typical Capcom bullshit.

Also, OP, did you try tapping the bumper to switch to your pistol? Don't hold it, tap it.

@falserelic: I hear that. The, "survival horror" part of the series was completely absent in RE5 and from what I saw in the trailer for 6, it's not gonna be there either. :-(

Did some people think this was actually going to be some genre busting critically acclaimed game?

I mean, I am only interested in it because I'm a big RE fan and it's taking place at what I would consider the high point of the series as far as story and characters go. As long as the game play is halfway decent I'm just looking to go through and experience the story, settings and characters of an old familiar title I adore.

Pretty stoked for this.

Anyone know if there is local co-op?

I agree with the article and I liked how he played the game as a one time go with someone dying and that's how he rolled into the 3rd game.

The issue though is that the only thing altered is you're going to get less game. It's not like since Miranda is dead her young sister is going to get into trouble and seek out the commander Shepard, that once saved her from her father, to help her, sending him on a total different mission with different rewards than the one Miranda will send you on. Same with Tali; now you just have one less squadmate in ME3, not some alternate quarian that could have been ionspired by the actions and death of Tali Va Normandy. If her or Garrus died then that's that! They don't have replacements, you simply link up with alternate members of their race on the missions that they are key for, and roll two squadmates short. If Mordin dies in ME2 do you even have a mission on Tuchanka?

The list goes on, that's the problem with the "choices" in these games. The only people I am giving a chance to prove me wrong at this point with these in game "choices" are the people over at Project Red that do The Witcher series.

I didn't kill him simply because in games like this choosing to eliminate a character only ever seems to yield less content in the next game (same with killing the dragon). Just look at what Bioware did with Mass Effect 3; letting any of the crew members die in the 2nd game results in nothing more than a less fleshed out experience in the 3rd.

Although I will say that the people at Project Red seem to really care about their game and if anyone offered up just as rich an experience for killing a major character it'd be them!

Resident Evil 5.

This game was definitely a disappointment. I don't know what it is though, because while the mechanics of the game are undeniably outdated Resident Evil 4 is still fun!
