@hayt: I live in Southern California, around San Diego. Internet cafes were definitely a thing here back then, but if anything, they've all been replaced with signs that say "Free WiFi".
I'm actually more surprised to hear that internet cafes are still around. From what I'm aware of, there are pretty much no more around my area and I probably haven't even seen one for over a decade.
They both have police events. Most Wanted is actually considered a spiritual successor to Burnout Paradise, taking place in an open world where you just drive anywhere and do kind of anything. Hot Pursuit plays more like your traditional NFS, but a focus on racers against cops and modes and events to play as either. My two cents? Go with Hot Pursuit.
To each their own, I suppose. I think it is a fantastic game and for sure many other people think so as well, but that unfortunately doesn't mean everyone will just the same. I found the combat system pretty fun. Nothing overly challenging, but it certainly didn't bore me. Not too sure what I can say about the environments suiting the flow of progression, but I can say at least that the final area looks and feels like a final area? In any case, if you're not enjoying the action and platforming already, I'm not too sure if waiting for the second half will magically turn things around.
Here's a bit more formal info so people have a better idea what this is:
A side-scrolling shooter where you control @patrickklepek's head shooting at a bunch of Chris Remo heads. Control with either the arrow keys or WASD and press the Ctrl key to fire.
@meanl3r: In terms of knowing what items are must-haves, honestly I say just experiment. Grab every single item and become familiar with which ones you prefer over others. Not everyone will agree with how everyone plays. Many will never pass up Mom's Knife, but many will also prefer to go without it. Some will want Chocolate Milk, some won't. It's also a lot easier this way than trying to recollect something you've read and it's just fun to try and amass every single item you can find.
@nightriff: Nope. You can still just quickly set-up Joy2Key, but if you didn't like the gameplay with a keyboard, I'm not sure if a controller will change that much. It'll still only be four-way shooting. There will be controller support in Rebirth though.
