Ok, GBE are killing it with a very good feature starring Mario and GBW.... They are playing Dota. Where is VR Rodeo? Endurance runs? Breaking Brad?

Honest question: how is this different from Breaking Brad? You seem to be implying it's a "let's stream some random matches of Dota" feature. But it's not. It's a series where Brad plays a game to achieve a well-defined and hard objective, while someone else acts as a coach. That's exactly the Breaking Brad formula!

I was unclear, and after second thought the format is not the problem. It's Dota. Since I'm waiting for Murder Island I will take time to explain my opinion with a new, self-made model.

A series could have:

  • G - Interesting game
  • P - Interesting people
  • F - Interesting format

The above (GPF) influence each others, for example, an interesting format can suit a certain game, and the right people can make a game (and) format interesting. In other words, it's dynamic. This works in both ways, so - if one of the elements is really weak it will bring the other two down. This happened with the ER of Shenmue. Good format, excellent group of people but a terribly boring game to watch.

Another example is the ER of Deadly Premonition. Ryan's joy of watching Brad play, and getting deeper into the story made the game more interesting, and the BR version better than VJ, since Jeff and Vinny kinda didn't care.

That's what I think at least.

Addition: Ok, maybe Kingdom Heart series could be something.

Loot in this game is not as important as people might think. Even if you have just a basic pistol, you can still take out a fully armored guy or gal with just one magazine. Sure, a rifle with a good scope would be nice, but it's really not a necessity for murdering.

I agree, mostly. A good team with only handguns would kill a bad full geared team 9 times out of 10. But a low skilled team need good gear the most.

That's some misquoting. I have seen that quite a lot on this forum, people quoting quotes and it turns to a disaster, quoting the wrong person.

'Less looting more shooting,' then Brad is conspicuously absent during the initial fight and finally appears fully stocked.

You are not wrong.

I think - correct me if I'm wrong - that, to eat a sweet chicken dinner your team need to either have some individual skill, especially shooting and tactical placement AND/OR work together as a team. This crew lack both, and will only be able to feast that chicken when the random elements of the game allows it.

Also, all this talk about being spicy. I think it's more important to know when to be spicy and when to not. Being spicy also needs individual skill or it will just be suicide runs. The shooting practice can be done in solos. No need to drag the whole team down in squad games.

Anyways, I enjoy the series and don't care if you win or lose. But if you are playing to win, at least be smart about it.

I like this feature so far.

Actual game: 6.5/10 - Not a bad game but kinda bad for a Mario game. (Based on actual playing back in the day.)

This feature: 7.2/10 - Promising and could be exciting with the rules. I didn't like some of the (forced?) negativity from some in the crew though, this series will be better without it.

The controls - I don't remember this game having bad controls or being hard, at all. So either they have a lot of input latency or being bad at the game. Or my memory is failing me.

Keep 'em coming!

This game deserves a better Quick Look

I haven't played it, but from what I've seen from other sources I have to agree. This was somewhat like a worst case scenario quick look. Perhaps GB East with Dan and Vinny could try this later on, but not too late, some games are best when they are hot.
