You can share the worlds that you create with other players on your network in real time -- "Minecraft", which allows you to open your game up to your local area network, also includes the option to share your worlds with others. You don't need to log into your physical LAN in order to access your world. However, software like LogMeIn Hamachi or Comodo Unite, and Wippien allow you to create virtual network connections with other players around the globe. These virtual LANs are similar to physical networks in "Minecraft". To host a LAN game in "Minecraft," connect the other players to your virtual network, and then configure the game to allow other users.
Virtual LAN
Download, install and open LogMeIn Hamachi, Comodo Unite or Wippien (links in the Resources).
Click the power button and then click "Create in Hamachi." For Comodo Unite, click "Register a New Account," fill out the form, and then click "Register." Fill out the form for Wippien when you open the program and click "OK" to create your Jabber account.
MINECRAFT SERVERS
Click "Create New Network" to Hamachi. For Comodo Unite, click "Sign Me In," select "Networks" from the menu bar, and then click "Create a New Network." For Wippien, click the "+" icon on the toolbar, and then click "Add/Remove Contacts."
Enter a network name, password, and click "Create in Hamachi." For Comodo Unite, enter a network name and password, check "Enable VPN," and then click "Create." Enter the Jabber ID and password for Wippien. Click "Add Contact" and then "OK."
To enable players to connect to the virtual local network, they will need your Jabber ID or the password and virtual network name.
Physical LAN
Click the signal bar on the taskbar in Desktop mode to open the Networks pane.
Select your wireless network and click "Connect"
Enter your security code if you have one, then click "Connect" again. This will sign the computer on the LAN.
Server setup
Open "Minecraft", click the "Singleplayer” button on the main screen and then click "Create New World."
Enter a name to the world in the World Name box, then click "Game Mode Survival" and choose from Survival, Hardcore, Creative or Survival.
Click "Create New World", and you will be able to load a completely new world. To open Game Options, press "Esc" immediately after the game loads.
