I started typing a comment - just my two cents - but several hundred words later, I figure I should rather see if there's any forum discussion on the game to spew my thoughts.
Just my two cents on the Steam Controller convo, I'm pretty pleased with the controller myself. Apart from slower things (i.e. anything turn-based), I actually love the controller for Dead Cells. Once you get used to the trackpad for your camera (which is minimal in that game), it functions like any other controller. If I didn't get it for the Switch, I'm sure I'd be rockin' that controller for Celeste as well. This, of course, comes with the caveat of playing a 2d platformer with a control stick; I haven't tried (and don't care to try) the left trackpad as a d-pad substitute.
Started watching Dragon Ball Super 'cause of this show, and Beerus (purple dog guy in DB FighterZ) offhandedly comments on destroying the dinosaurs on Earth but leaving the planet. Take that as you will, Dan!
Oh damn, didn't realize Dead Cells counted for community votes! That game's top three for me last year (sorry Odyssey!). Anyone know if the game will still be up for 2018 voting if it hits 1.0 this year?
I have a feeling these lists will finally get me to pick up The Sexy Brutale and Hollow Knight. Thanks for kicking it off for me Bakalar, and happy holidays!
Fantastic read, Rami! My wife and I just recently finished Inside, and I'm appreciating all the thoughtful points people have made of the game, and yours is no exception. I definitely recall that walk through the cornfield, all the self-inflicted tension of "How much longer will this walk take? It can't be much longer, can it? Oh god, what's waiting for me in this cornfield? What's waiting for me at the end of this cornfield?" The more I dissect the game, the more I find it a masterclass product in player agency and immersion. And to place Thumper at a tangentially similar level of quality makes it a must-play for me.
