This is a little rant against Micro$oft raising the xbox live gold cost to $60 a year, and I have an idea for the ages mother fuckers.

Why don't M$ make a new XBL membership level called XBL Platnium and make that $60 and Make XBL Gold $40.

The new version of gold could be reduced to just the current abilities of SIlver plus Voice messaging and playing video games on the god damn internet against mother fucking people, which is free for all non MMO games on the PC.

And then XBL Platnium could have the abilites of the current day gold in which not only includes the ability to play games online, but also has all the extra bullshit like Hulu, facebook, netflix, and the fuckin ESPN thing that I and many of my friends don't give a damn about. I and most people who own XBL have a computer handy that can do those things, also if you have XBL, then you have broadband which means you most likely have cable tv or atleast could have cable tv. I happen to have cable tv and with cable tv you have like 5 fucking ESPN channels to watch that will have all the live games they show on the XBL ESPN thing.

To put it short, I think it is total bullshit to raise the cost of XBL gold because of the extra bullshit features that I, and I'm sure many others, don't give a shit about. I'm sure some do, but for those who do, they should simply charge them more for it, not the people who pay money for live who already think paying to play games online is a fuckin joke.

By far, paying for content that's already on the disk is the biggest scam in the video game industry since E.T.

For one, it's content that's already been made and created during the development cycle. This is content that would have normally been included with the game back in the days before down loadable content.

Second, you are literally paying for a code that unlocks the content, no thank you.

This is the issue I worried about as the 360 was launching and dlc was being hyped.  I was worried that developers would either hold content back to release later as dlc, or do this, and include it on the actual disk and just issue unlock codes for it.  This is why I don't really like dlc to much, you never know if it was actually made before or after the normal development cycle of the game.  So ultimately, when I decide whether I'm going to purchase dlc, I always have to consider the content that's already with the game, how much content is included in the dlc and how much it costs.  I also refuse to buy any dlc that is already on the disk.

Do yourself a favor and get the PS3. I think its at a low enough price and there are definitely enough good games now to justify it.

Um...I'm not blaming Obama, I never pointed the finger at Obama. Please read and comprehend before you make a statement, I said he should do something about college textbooks.  And why would this opinion have anything to do with my success in college, I'm in Computer Science, not Political Science.

" So let me get this straight... You wan't your government to prioritize the price of text books over that giant oil spill... Jesus fucking christ, how someone so god damn stupid made it into college is beyond me. "

The gov is wasting their time, either appoint some scientist and engineers to figure out how to do something or just let BP keep fiddling around like headless turkeys.  Again, so far all Obama has done is check out the damage and try to find specific people to point a finger at for the poor execution of stopping the gushing.  So far BP has showed no signs of fixing this on their own, get outside scientists and engineers and let them have a crack on it, that's all you can do. Whats been done has been done, there is no taking the oil out of the water, that can't be done until synthetic life research is fully understood and creatable on a large scale.

I understand this is a free market economy, but this is total rape.  And the comparisons of those books were just examples, my specific college programming courses don't use those books, but I know of some schools that do.

Also, Obama has made the comment that people shouldn't go to school because they can't afford it.  If Obama can force car manufacturers to have a specific highway miles per gallon by whatever year it is, why can't he step in and do something about this???  Also, I said, he should work on this, instead of trying to find who's ass to kick for the oil spill problem, so what if he finds somebodies ass to kick, what good is that gonna do, that's not going to stop the fact that there is oil spilling into the ocean at .5-4.2 mil gals per day.   And ya, look at that range, there's your first problem, get fuckin scientist in there so they can determine that.

Anyways, I still think $100 for a paperback book is too much, but I would be more accepting of it, if the same publisher/authors, didn't have other books of the same magnitude for cheaper, like 60% cheaper, because it targets people who aren't forced to buy it for a college course.

Why does the government allow textbook companies to sell overpriced textbooks!!!! Example, Prentice Hall's Deitel and Deitel programming books. They have two main series, the "How To Program...." and the "....for Programmers" series.  The "How To Program..." books are always $100+ new, however, the "...for Programmers" books are all only $35-$40.  Both series feature paperback books, and 1200-1500 pages.  I don't know about you guys, but, $100+ is way too much for a paperback book, I think $35-$40 is right.

Here's the problem I have, both series have the same amount of pages, give or take.  The "How To Program..." books are aimed for college courses, while the "...for Programmers" books are not. So they jack the price for the "How To Program..." books because they know college students are gonna be forced to buy them.

This is ridiculous, Obama should be fixing this problem instead of trying to find who's ass he should kick for the oil spill problem.

So I'm kinda stuck in a pickle as to what I want to do.  I want to go through a beginners programming book this summer, either C++ or Java.  Next fall I'm taking a intro programming class in Java, but during the Winter and Spring quarter I will be taking two classes on software development using and creating components where the language used is C++.

So what do you think I should do, study C++ over the summer and then go into fall quarter and learn some Java, or study Java now so that when I go into fall quarter, it will be easier?

I am using student loans, but I've been doing some thinking and at this pace, it will be like $65,000-$70,000 in all, not including interest.  This year I went to a branch so it was only $5500 the whole year, didn't need room and board, loan covered all but like $180.  Next fall I'm going down to main campus and the cost of attendance will be like $20,000 or something because tuition is more at main campus and I need room and board.

The only thing I can think of to do is maybe my Junior and Senior year, staying in an apartment and paying off my share of the payments so I can cut my student loans in half for those years.

I have no grants because I wasn't a national honors society suck ass in high school, right now I'm killing it in college but that doesn't matter.
