That's awesome. Seriously. But I stand by my belief that that isn't a common thing. If it were, we wouldn't have the entire staff not completing the game for the same reason. *shrug*

It's a great game, but I just don't get why certain people feel like it's some sort of disgusting affront to humanity that it might not be everyone's GOTY (again, my GOTY).

The staff can do what they want. They are not beholden to anybody. If they wanted to be the only outlet giving Saints Row: the Third GOTY back in 2011, they should have gone for it. (The right choice was Dark Souls, but that's another story.)

And The Witcher 3 is rightfully getting a metric ton of praise from all over the place, including a great many GOTY lists. So The Witcher 3 is definitely getting it's due. The praise is not for nothing. That game is amazing.

The part that might be getting to people is the appearance of apathy by the staff.

Imagine if in 2013 no one the staff had played The Last of Us due to just not getting into the game? Or if only a handful of guys had put more than 40 hours into Skyrim back in 2011. It just feels weird for a gaming site to be so apathetic about something that's caused such a storm.

Oh, and it's definitely playable in 30-45 minute chunks. That's how I played it, as I have a kid that demands all but an hour or (if I'm lucky) two of my time each day. Vinny chose MGS5 as his "Holy shit I have an hour free" game. That's his call, but it is doable.

Again, that's great, but it doesn't seem to be the way a lot of people find that game to be playable.

I'm going to back out of this discussion because at this point, I'm having trouble even grasping what the discussion is about. "They can do what they want!" (BUT THEY BETTER NOT DO THIS!) Witcher 3 is a great game. Period.

@vinny: Yeah but you can definitely do that in W3 too, just knocking off contracts or quest branches piece by piece. I don't think it demands an hour minimum each time, 30 min is fine. At least you gave it a spot on the list, though. Since you're into the lore you'll probably love it once you beat it.

In my opinion, you absolutely cannot jump in and play TW3 for small chunks and drop it. I respect that you feel like you can, but I think you're the exception, not the rule.

I can absolutely play Witcher 3 in small chunks (and have kind of been forced to thus far). I get around 45-60 minutes in at a time during most sessions, and I'm still enjoying the heck out of it.

@sinjunb: Did you work on Witcher 3 or something?

Right!? It's getting a little ridiculous at this point (and this is coming from someone who considers TW3 to be far and away the GOTY).

I am so excited for the GOTY top 10 podcast at this point, I can barely contain myself.

This list has allowed me to continue my daily streak of saying "HA-NEE-MAY" since they did on last week's podcast. I love it, and my girlfriend went from hating it to now also saying it.

This list also made me laugh more than it should have.

@nevergameover: true, but I feel like the tremendous amount of caveats with MGSV as it now exists will see even Dan waver. Meanwhile, again, he has said that he plans to play Mario Maker "forever".

@nevergameover: I personally feel that absolutely Dan will throw down for Mario Maker. Despite his love of MGSV, even he has soured slightly, and let's not forget that he has outright said that Mario Maker is a game that is one of his all time favorites that he expects to play "forever". That, to me, means there is a sizeable gap between 1 and 2. Or it is just wishful thinking on my part because man do I love to listen to those fights (and hate them all at the same time haha).
