ShadowBlaze94: GOTY 2010

List items

  • A great follow up to an already great game, Mass Effect 2 outstrips the first in almost every way possible with a strong story, great characters, pretty good DLC and more diverse area structures for the otinal missions. My only complaint us that you only get two party memebers from the original team but the new team is good enough that that is only a minor issue to me.

  • My most anticiated game of the whole year, Sonic Colours is SEGA's way of saying to the fans "here is what you wanted, now leave us alone" due to everyone complaining about the werehog in Unleashed so they took what everyone loved about that game, the day stages, and made it into a great game. New voice actors Roger Craig Smith and Kate Higgins also don't do a terrible job as the main characters.

  • Possibly the best title in Square Enix and Disneys ambitious crossover game series, Birth By Sleep is an attempt to explain why everything in the later games are how they are. It fills in some of the mysteries of the keyblade, explains some of the Organization XIII memebers backstory and also has a possible hint to Kingdom Hearts 3 (see final parts of secret ending to understand). Overall it is just a great game especially fixing the slightly flawed combat from Kingdom Hearts 2.

  • A remake of possibly the best generation out of the whole of Pokémon, Heart Gold/Soul Silver adds in new elements that really shows why Pokémon and the Nintendo DS are great. It has good use of touch screen which the other DS games (apart from Ranger) lacked, it introduced the Pokéwalker which was helpful for leveling a pokémon, catching new ones and finding items. It upped the difficulty from the first which was pretty easy and made it a fun challenge and it ha a good use of WI-FI so all around it ad a little bit of everything in a franchise where a lot of fans have lost hope.

  • Everythng we know and loved about the first Galaxy game taken and amlified to insane degrees, Galaxy 2 adds in new powers, Yoshi, great new levels, brilliant music pieces and great visuals (especially for the WII which isn't the most powerful system) and creates possiby the best Mario game since the NES era, possibly even the best Mario game full stop.

  • A step in a good direction for Platinum Games, Bayonetta might be a Devil May Cry ripoff but it does everything so well that it actually steals Devil May Cry's thunder. The witch time ability is pretty creative in allowing players to lay out effective strategies for taking out hordes of angels at once, the story is pretty good, if not kind of confusing but only at certain points and everything is full explained near the end anyway, the charcters all really feel alive with their different personalities and charcter traits and quirks,

  • A charming little platformer strikingly similar to I Wanna Be The Guy excet where IWBTG was flawed by a pretty bad control scheme and way too many glitches, Super Meat Boy has great controls, a whole host of cool characters (most, if not all of which are a reference to another game e.g Commander Video from Bit Trip Runner) and makes probably the hardest game I have ever played in my 16 years of living.

  • This game proves that you can have huge online shooter games without having huge amounts of lag. the scale that MAG sets for each and every match you will have, at first, might blow your mind that it was even possible for them to be able to program it. Take into account the fact that it is a great FPS and that due to the scale, even people who aren't that good at FPS games (like me) can get into it and have some form of role within their team.

  • The Golden Sun universe in a new generation, the camera shfts from the previous heroes (Issac, Mia, Garet, Ivan, Jenna etc.) and instead fast fowards thirty years and looks at the adventres of their children. The fact that we have new heroes hels to see the universe of this game in a new light and include alot more cities into this world aswell. The combat is standard Golden Sun, which is a good thing due to Golden Sun always having fun fights and dramatic boss battles. It introduces alot of new characters and it also introduces more psynergy which is good because if allows for some more complex puzzle solving. All around, Dark Dawn is a step in the right direction for what could possibly be a whole new series for Golden Sun.

  • Proof that you can have a realistic story setting with zombies, and not have it try to be scary at all, Dead Rising 2 is a really fun mission based game. The main feature of it is the fact that you have time limits to do all the missions which ranges from giving Katey Zombrex, rescuing survivors and defeating Psychopaths. The characters are fleshed out as much as they need to be, the combo weapons range from comical to badass and everything inbetween and it has some alright online play and DLC (too bad both DLC's are 360 exclusive).
