Better bosses, more stealth tricks, more interesting melee combat. Maybe a little more middle ground between stealth and melee?

When you solve long winded puzzles.. like the Riddlers.. you should get to sneak up on him, and just give him ONE big whollop.. then arrest him... doens't need to be a boss fight, just enough to get some vengeance for the long annoying puzzles. And maybe an unlockable nightwing playthrough.. ^_^

This. I'm hoping it's more Batman and Nightwing than Batman & Robin. Just because Nightwing looks cooler. Also, I want a more frightening part within Batman. Like the Scarecrow, but with the Black Mask. Because he is messed up.  I'm thinking Black Mask is going to be pretty key in this one, since he is the head of Arkham Asylum. "

I would like to have more invisible predator attacks for batman. And to strike fear in the hearts of criminals, and where sometimes the evil person is so afraid they commit suicide or do something crazy.  Holding a bad guy over a ledge would be cool, I would also like Batman to have the white eye lids on his mask like in the comics. "

The game itself, aside from the boss battles, was superb. The only changes I can think of would be more obscure villains. 
Gorilla Boss, The Key, Lock-up, some of the Maroni family, Bat-mite, Prometheus, Tally Man, Doctor Phosphorus, etc.

cape physics 2.0. last time the had one person who did nothing but design the cape and make it look right, well this time i want 2 people working on that. its a sequel, step it up bitches!!! 

The crap over-the-shoulder view that ruined this game, Dead Space, RE 4 and RE 5 for me. I don't like being made dizzy from the way my character is shown on the screen. Give me first-person or a third-person middle view. Other than that I'll pass thanks.

Well like CL60 said, better boss battles would be a good starting point. Now don't get me wrong I didn't hate the boss battles in the first game, The Scarecrow segments were really cool and the fight against Poison Ivy were challenging  without getting annyoing. But the rest of the boss battles had this one big problem in common, none of them really felt satisfying. Especially the Joker and Killer Croc fights suffers of that very problem... I mean Killer Croc is supposed to be this big mean motherfucker who can tear a grown man in two if he feels like it, yet there wasn't even a real battle between him and Batman and don't even get me started on the Joker battle.  
  
But when that has been said i really did enjoy the game. All the gameplay elements works really well, stealth, combat, exploration esc. all makes Arkham Asylum a truly enjoyable experience.   
 
Oh and a fight against Mr. Freeze would be really awesome. 

Like many people have already suggested, better boss fights. I want to see Batman fight someone who's got some actual skills as a fighter, like Deathstroke or Hush or somebody. It'd be really sweet having a fight where you have to counter multiple attacks in a row and then strike back and it gets harder and harder as time goes on, rather than those annoying chuck-a-batarang fights.
 
Also, more mild-horror elements would be great, like in Killer Croc's lair or with the Scarecrow hallucinations.

I would say adding a little more depth to the hand-to-hand combat would be great.  Other than that the first game was a ton of fun.  Poison Ivy on Hard had me cursing my television for a couple of hours.

Less obvious game mechanics and less segmentation.

Just don't mess it up and I'll be happy.

Larger environments to explore and more interesting boss battles. Each villain in the batman universe is so diverse that they lend themselves very well to the creation of unique boss battles throughout the whole game. Take advantage of it Rocksteady. 

I would like to see The Riddler (he is my favorite),two face,Humpty Dumpty, and Tweedle dee and Tweedle Dum. i dont know why the last 2, but i find them interesting. OH and also The Mad Hatter

I liked what Splinter Cell Conviction did with the sonar goggles where the faster you moved the screen got more distorted. That would help deter the over use of detective mode.
 
And maybe minigames to play on the batcomputer and/or batmobile. How weird would it be to see Bats sit down and play some bejeweled?  o_0

More Arkham Asylum with better boss fights and more bosses.  Also, more varied environments, although if it all takes place in Gotham streets/roofttops/buildings, that would be fine too.  The only two bosses that bothered me were Killer Croc and Joker.  Joker was just sorta a dumb boss fight, and Killer Croc was disappointing.  It was alright and I got a feeling of "ohshitohshitohshit" out of it, but after it was over I was disappointed that it wasn't better, because when I first saw him pop out of the sewer and eat a dude I was like "OH SHIT I GET TO FIGHT HIM?@"  But you just run from him.  Oh well, I'm sure it will be great.

Gotham City, open-world driving in the batmobile.. batplane, batboat, whatever you want to call those. A shoot anywhere grappling hook like Just Cause 2, but functioning more like Batman would use it.. so he could swing on it, instead of being pulled to a point automatically.

I want it to retain the level of polish found in the first one. Maybe buff away the remaining load times.
