Because that is what he is paid for. His job is to run this website which means he should be at least somewhat familiar with all the big games so he can give an educated opinion on them. Work is not about doing what you enjoy but what you are paid to do. *shrug* old debate I expect from some comments elsewhere but not one I have been part of before. What I though was a very good proposal of two rounds of voting where everyone would know a couple months in advance what games are nominated for rewards in each category so they can play them all before voting was given in the top ten thread. But, I believe in objective criticism and think it can work which I know this site doesn't as much.
That's not how this works. Games are delegated to the staff which might suit them best. Otherwise you get a written or video piece where the writer is out of place. You'd give a Monster Hunter review to Jason, for example. He's the most familiar with the series and can therefore give a fuller opinion on it and has comparisons on hand that he can make.
Give it to Dan or somebody and you just get something terrifying like Dan's poorly-received Metro Redux Quick Look.
270 hours of my personal backlog is Final Fantasy. Help.
Now that I own III, IV, V, VI, VII, XIII, and XIII-2…according to howlongtobeat that’s about 250-300 hours of Final Fantasy.
MY LIFE IS RUINED!
It's... best not to think about it. Start with IV, I guess. You can do something stupid with a staircase which transports you to the end of the game. I've got V, VI, VII, X and XII to deal with. Unless my PS3 dies which would be (in)convenient.
After 14 years of constantly stating he wants to end the Metal Gear franchise, if his first game winds up being about nuclear equipped walking battle tanks, I might just throw him off a cliff.
