Yeah, make sure you go to camp every time you're going to leave somewhere. Best place to gain influence with party members that you don't normally group with, give presents, equip, etc. Then when you leave, pick your party members.

at least the game is letting you know the entire time that you will eventually have to face the archdemon. Loghain is the main antagonist, but you always knew he wasn't behind the Blight, which was the main threat.
Well I would say the best game on that list is Dragon Age, but if you're short on time you'll probably spend more of it on Torchlight. It's hard to spend less than an hour playing Dragon Age. Mass Effect is also a great RPG that can easily be finished in under 20 hours if you skip the meaningless collection and side quests.
