the fact that Dinosaur Jr was around in 1985, and influenced Porcupine Tree, The Pixies, and basically every group in the 90's, is a testimant.  
 
why can't you all see this? you can even hear an influence on the Smashing Pumpkins, the most popular band in the 90's.

Dinosaur Jr was BEFORE the Pixies btw. 
 
If you guys realize that songs in the 80's DID NOT sound like this, you'd realize that this album is a masterpiece.

Specifically their album "You're Living All Over Me", (1987) changed music forever. 
 
I don't think people realize how much this band changed everything. Just listen.
