Its a shame the netcode of this game isn't up to scratch. Being able to summon people and be summoned reliably and quickly would make this an amazing port. Still, this is probably my Best 2011 Game Of 2012.

"The lack of advertising for Mark of the Ninja upon its released really bothered me"

Holy typos.

That aside, I think this article raises a really good point about the changing nature of games and multimedia, but it comes across as a little amateurish. It kinda just seems like you loved this game, you felt it was slighted by Microsoft and you've scrambled to write an article that backs up your feelings. Like others have said, there's plenty of assumptions here that might be credible with some sales data to back it up. Or it might undermine the entire article.

I'm not on any hating-bandwagon, I think gb benefits from articles like these from Patrick, but I'd love to see him research a follow-up article down the line with clearer thoughts on why stuff like this happens and what it means. The economics and the politics of Xbox Live must be batshit crazy.

Thanks for the tip, OP. Did the SMS verification thing, took like an hour to get the code through but its installing fine. g2play.net have a similar deal going right now (and similar shady russian serial stuff), although it may be sold out atm.

Great article Patrick. I loved Walking Dead ep1&2, but I get the criticism that some of the choices (ie "do I save the man or the helpless child" or "do I save the useless guy or the girl with the firearm") are actually kinda no-brainers to most people. But its interesting to see that the developers thought about this, and WD walks a fine line between giving you disturbing choices and narratives to drive the plot forward and giving you really really shitty choices that just make you not want to play that game anymore.

Looking forward to part 2 of this, I must say that when ep 2 really ramps up at the end (ie everything goes nuts) its some of the most emotional resonance I've had with a game.

I was excited about this, but realistically there's no way I can justify paying full price for such a poor port when I could just dust off my 360 and get that version for half as much money. If the price drops quickly and the mod community does amazing things it might be a good deal eventually.

The giant Mask & Heart boss is freaking impossible if you aren't tooled up properly. But to Ares42's point, the moment where I spawn into a room stuck on a walkway with something rushing on me and realise that I've missed the split second window to get into a better position is my true nemesis.

Basically I just want a videogame where you find out at the end that you were Batman all along. Also I want life to be like that.

Inspired by the Deadlight quick look at the moment and the moment a character refers to the protagonist as "Mr Wayne", and Vinny whispers "...its Batman...!" and Brad agrees that it would be awesome if it is.

Has there ever been a game that had some IP license or recognisable figure in it and just totally kept it secret until it was revealed as part of a plot twist? Obviously it doesn't really make much economic sense, but it would be an awesome narrative twist.

I can't really think of an example of it happening. Burt Reynolds making a surprise appearing in Saint Row 3 playing himself was pretty great.

On one hand, this seems kinda lame given how cheap and moddable this game already is. On the other hand, if people can get into BG in 2012 because of this new release I'm ok with that. Maybe it leads to some bizarre Infinity Engine renaissance.

It's good that these people aren't just losing their jobs, but a forced relocation for the sake of tax credits seems massively skeezy. I wonder how Canadian employment law works?
