From watching gameplay footage, it seems like Alpha Protocol is following closely in the footsteps of the Mass Effect series in terms of character progression and interaction.  I hope the people making Deus Ex 3 are paying attention.  If all they're doing to make it more approachable is streamlining the inventory system and making it 3rd instead of 1st person, we have a shot at making an interesting game.
