There's always an active mission to join, but the player activity really depends on your timezone. I believe once v1.33 rolls out the free-to-play system will be advertised and more players will join the game.
I've played both versions and I noticed the PC version looks slightly better graphically, but other than that they're mostly the same. The real difference is the mods.
Great article, Wasdie! I decided to download the free trial a month ago, I got hooked so I subscibed. I think I know the basics for infantry, still getting used to vehicles and aircraft. It's challenging to level up, but I think that's because I live in Australia, and the only time I get to play is when nobody is on. My ingame name is Koblo and Axis is my side of choice.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you post in System Wars?
"Natural Selection in my opinion. I love the unique game mechanics and gameplay. My best multiplayer experiences have been with that game. "
Never heard of that game. Whats it like? "
It's a mod for the original Half Life that combines RTS with First person action. Basically, the two sides (aliens and humans) have to build structures, capture resource nodes and hold key points of the map to out-tech and defeat their enemy. What I loved most about it is that you have to use strategy and teamwork to win, instead of just skill. Both sides play completely different from each other, I found it amazing that it's as balanced as it is now. Unfortunately there aren't many populated servers running the original game mode anymore, but the devs are releasing Natural Selection 2 on Steam in the future. You can download it here.
